Don't be Black in our White Neighbourhood

May God grant me the confidence of a 100lb racist white woman who shows up on someone's porch with a weapon to run their mouth.

These people are saints to have such restraint. A lesser person would have shoved that stun gun up her ass.
 
Well, you do still see the occasional video of someone going off like this and getting a beatdown, but now that just recording their hateful rants on the internet is enough to earn them other consequences, and with no apparent risk of prison time for the recipient of their bigotry, I'm happy to see people move in that direction instead.

Just imagine if the roles had been reversed - a black dude turning up with a Taser to confront an elderly white woman.

She could have shot him and wouldn't have even been charged with a crime, far less be convicted of one.
 
Was it reported if anyone called Animal Control about that dangerous animal running around loose on the street? She even had a stun gun

As the argument becomes heated, Mr Jones can be heard asking Ms Dean to leave his property. She responds telling him: "You are a black person in a white neighbourhood and you are acting like one”, suggesting they instead act like “a white person in a white neighbourhood”.

It's sad how this sort of euphemistic double-talk is how so many racists are trying to square their own circle these days.

"Ohhhh I'm not racist, no siree. I don't hate black people just the ones who don't act... right."
"And how are they not acting right?"
"*Shrugs* I dunno."

It's basically just a vaguer version of "I don't have black people, I just hate thugs" thing.

Out of curiosity, would it have been legal for him to shoot her? I mean she was carrying a weapon.

I'm not sure about that. I would think it depends on whether he could demostrate he had a reasonable fear to his life or property. I think it would be a stretch.

Yeah, he’s not a police officer so it would be hard for him to argue that he was in fear of his life.

Shooting her as the discussion progressed would have been highly questionable, but if someone comes to your door which you open to find them pointing a stun gun, shooting them would almost certainly be legally acceptable regardless of "stand your ground"/Castle doctrine crap. Those laws are intended to excuse people for shooting others in the absence of a threat of imminent harm. A stun gun is absolutely a threat of imminent harm since a) it can cause fatal complications (admittedly rare but that's pretty cold comfort to the family of an innocent person who is killed) and b) it's designed to render someone physically helpless and could easily be a precursor to someone causing more serious physical harm, up to and including death.

In this particular situation, with an elderly racist holding both her stun gun and her mutt, the danger is pretty low. However, I don't think one is generally obligated to take time to make that determination if a person comes to one's door brandishing a weapon.
 
She seems a little senile or out of it in some way or another, but I don't doubt that their pit bull attacked her little dog. Pit bulls do that.

She probably had legitimate reasons to find this family irritating.

Not black people...just people in general. You never really know just how bat **** crazy someone you don't know well really is. Good instincts for self preservation require not running your mouth off to any random who could kill you.
