More reports of voting machines switching Romney votes to Obama. Pay close attention to the machines, don't let your vote be stolen

See my above post. The analogy is getting lost in the details. Here's the original exchange:

Some people here did ignore what they should do and instead followed orders. The woman who refused to give Biden access to money and offices, for example, is one of those people though I think it's hard to compare that to torturing someone when ordered to.

But we've come nowhere close to this happening on the large scale it would take for an actual coup.

The how can I possibly be charged with attempted murder, did you see how incompetent my attempt was! Defense.

How competent does an attempt at something need to be to be classified as not really an attempt?

Was the New York Times right to downplay the risks of Hitler's Antisemitism in 1922? I mean look at how incompetent his beer hall putsch was as a coup. When did he become a real threat?

So is Trump now claiming that Obama stole the 2012 election from Romney in the same way Biden is stealing the 2020 one from him?

Democrats have actually never won an election. In fact Democrats themselves are a myth.

"I want you to think about what this means for your kids, who probably go to [redacted]"...

If you watch the video it's cut off at a crucial moment. Why do I have the strong suspicion that it was edited here because he was not threatening Palmer's children at all?

ETA: I looked at his twitter page. Apparently he mentioned what school the kids may go to but not in a "nice school your kids go to. Pity if something happened to it" way either. While not a smart thing to do, it is certainly not threatening Palmer's children.

I'm pretty sure that what he meant was that her kids would be embarrassed in school to be associated with her, after her racist attempt to disenfranchise black people.

And the redaction was pretty pathetic. If you live in this neighborhood, you know what he said. He basically said that they live in a mostly white suburb, right next to the City of Detroit. It's kind of weird to even be there. You cross Mack Avenue and when you look to the left, you see a wealthy suburb, and you look to the right, you see a run down city with decrepit buildings.

For me it is bad enough that the sitting President of the United States of ******* America has said that he will ignore the vote of the people and is actually trying to get others to follow his lead. Add on top of these things that he is trying to delegitimize the democratic process where it is to his advantage and it is a playbook for any future aspiring autocrat. Each of these things is something to be upset about, whether he succeeds or not.
Clearly.

Fortunately the EC margin is so large that it's not feasible to steal. If one state would flip it, I'd be freaking out, and with good cause.

After all, 4 1/2 years ago it was unimaginable that a nominee/POTUS would collude with Russia to influence an election. It was unimaginable that a POTUS would lean on the leader of a foreign country to manufacture dirt about a political opponent. It was unimaginable that a POTUS would attempt to overturn an election. It was unimaginable that a POTUS would support right wing nut cases who plotted to kidnap a governor and try her in the woods. And it was also unimaginable a political party would blithely play along.

The "it can't happen here" malarkey that phoney balony high horse centrists foist is (1) quaint and (2) fact-deprived.

Something like this, I think. He's essentially recycling baseless claims he made in 2012 as support for the baseless claims he's making today. Only Trump would think that was a valid approach; only having the sort of mindless base whose first and only reflex is to snap at whatever chum he throws in the water for them enables him to use it.

Sorry if anyone think this sounds harsh, but I'm getting really ******* tired of this idiot and the way he stirs **** and his galumphing base just begs for more, as if it's some gourmet treat the rest of us are obtusely missing out on.

This afternoon, I joined my colleagues in calling for a full, independent audit of the recent election prior to the certification of results. We have seen a number of allegations that range from outright fraud, if true, to terrible mistakes that need to be corrected.

I think this is called "Throwing S--t on the wall to see if it sticks".

Deal... but only for you. I don't think I have the stamina for twice-daily berating from ever forum member.

Fair warning: if the next Trump administration is anything like the last it may be rough for the first few months, but then it will get really bad.

I'm totally with you, but you and I and non-Trump folk are going to have to start to figure out how to minimize the effect of all that, because it's not going away, even if Trump leaves the White House on Jan 20, or even if we never hear from him again. Someone else will be there to leverage his base for themselves the way he did, and just as much damage (and quite possibly more damage) to democracy can be done. We better start figuring out how to prevent even more damage.

I await the pros and the profs to let us know what the average citizen can do.

BREAKING: WI Elections Commission, after seeing President Trump’s recount petition and objections, is trying to change the recount manual at an emergency meeting tonight at 6 pm to make objections harder to make. This must be stopped.

Admit we have a mass Fascist movement on our hands, and rememeber those are seldom defeated by peaceful means alone.
My own advice: buy a rifle and learn how to use it.

Yeah, I don't really know what can be done either. I do know that this complacent "oh gosh you guys, relaaaaaax! Trump's not gonna pull off a coup!" approach isn't very helpful. My bitching isn't any more helpful, I'm sure, but at least I recognize the problem, which is more insidious than the shortsighted "relax!" response seems to think it is. That "someone else to leverage his base" in the future only has to be more competent than the Trump/Giuliani machine in using the materials at hand to do some real damage- Trump prepares the ground by making it a quicksand, and a more capable sociopath throws all of us, and our democracy, into it.
