Right. Task #1 for Biden is handling Covid. Task #2 is strengthening voting - making it easier, and secure in a way that lessens the chance that the trumpistas can complain without being completely looney (which we know they will, we just want to minimize it).

Yeah I agree. I think if ever there was time it is now to pitch a public political battle to make it easier for each and for every one of us to vote and for each and every one of us being involved in the political process, it is now.

If two random entities on the Internet can agree on this, then I'm betting that someone on Biden's team is thinking the same way.

I'm trying to imagine what is going on in the minds of those unfortunate enough to believe Trump's tweets.

It must really seem like the Deep State is controlling almost everyone and everything.
A conspiracy of millions, and no one is talking.

The Deep State is bigger than you think. It is made up of 78,666,153 people. Probably even more!

Then you better hope those two Senate elections in GA go the Democrats way or you can look forward to a minimum of two years of guerrilla warfare from the Republicans claiming they are defending the country against an illegitimate President.

I certainly do hope that, but I'm confident a Biden administration will look at the cards that they are dealt and develop a strategy to maximize the hand they have, which is all that anyone does. Will that hand be enough to improve the ease and security of voting? Who knows? I have to leave that to the professionals.

I hope so.

.Trump has made that a necessity.

It's one of those things that should be easy to sell to the public and hard as hell to get Republican politicians to agree with.

The "bully pulpit" will now belong to Biden. It's important that he uses it.

I would imagine you'd sit down with Nancy and see what parts of the Voting Rights Bill they might want to keep in some negotiation with Mitch, trading it for something Mitch wants. Mitch can well obstruct all he wants, but you have to give him the bait to see if he takes it.

Plan B would be to see what can be done by executive order.

All with a healthy dash of the bully pulpit. And who know what else.

And I am in NO way a political professional.

Biden tweets

"Tonight my speech will be aired on ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX affiliates AROUND THE COUNTRY!! Unlike my "LOSER" predecessor!!!

I was one. But not at that level. The use of Executive Orders have been a growing necessity since people have forgotten that governing requires compromise and working across the aisle.

But McConnell isn't going to sit down and negotiate unless the political environment changes. He has no reason to want to stop voter suppression since it is a tool the GOP has embraced. The only way he negotiates is he's forced. And maybe not then. We need to do it to take the Senate back.

The majority of the public believes in democracy and fairness but they won't insist on change unless it is made an issue.

As someone on twitter pointed out

At noon on January 20th, world leaders will be able to freely share every single one of their humiliating stories about Donald Trump.

But we saw what happened when Obama tried that, the Republicans refused to cooperate even over things they technically supported. The Republicans have come to believe that they are the only ones entitled to wield power and the voters deciding otherwise is either an aberration or the result of cheating so they are entitled to simply obstruct everything.

Here in Georgia, Republican Senator David Perdue never once mentioned Trump during any campaign speech or advertising that I saw or heard, and actually got more votes than Trump did in Georgia. In our other Senate race, Kelly Loeffler ran on how far up Trump's ass her nose is, and she only got about 1/4 of the vote.

Maybe some Republicans are ready to move on from Trump.

I really wish more of the Democrats would not have harped about Trump and just ran on their own record and proposals. Everyone who cares already knows what they think of Trump.

You wouldn't believe this if it was made up. But it is true.

Trump lawsuit claims massive voter fraud in Fayette and Luzerne Counties of Pennsylvania.

Trump won both. The counties, not the lawsuits.

It's hard to maintain an overview from down in the White House Führer Bunker. This is Trump's version of issuing unworkable orders to divisions that no longer exist, while all his underlings wonder which one of them should tell him Steiner couldn't raise enough men.

Nothing described here is necessarily nutso. Perhaps he should have won those counties by more. After all, each state is a popular vote, so it's possible that voter fraud in a county you've won deprives you of statewide victory.

Of course, the details of the alleged fraud matter.
