I was given an interesting box at the armory last weekend. Inside was a folder marked Top Secret containing a letter welcoming me to the Future Soldiers Footlocker and a comic book yeah! I found the contents of the box disturbing and sad.
Inside was a board game called Daring Eagle that looks like a slimmed down version of Sirocco. A card game called Mission Critical thats a cheap MTG ripoff obviously targeted at the Yugi-Oh crowd. Last but not least some packs of National Guard trading cards.
You can download the National Guard RTS here http://www.1800goguard.com/game/game_download.html its a hoot. Yes the government is complaining about violent video games and creating them at the same time. Freely downloadable by any minor I might add.
I was lucky enough to get the Rumsfeld card and the threat levels card WOW. I find many of the cards offensive such as the bomb with "Lets Roll" painted on it and the Hometown Heroes cards that are obviously models, they all look like Vin Diesel and have perfect teeth. Some of the cards contain choice Bush quotes that use phrases like "Evil Doers". I wonder if there is a mission accomplished or a Poland card.
The message is clear, war is just like a music video. Blowing things up is awesome and we do it with XXXTREME style. In your face Saddam BOOYAH!!!
The new recruiting policy must be to indoctrinate them young. This is the worst steaming pile of propaganda I have ever seen its like something out of Starship Troopers. If I hadnt recieved it directly from the armory I would think it was just a sick joke.
I found some pictures of the board game
