2020 Presidential Election part 2

Apparently there are still 5000 uncounted ballots in GA coming from Gwinnett, which are expected to also fall heavily Biden. Gap could widen by another thousand or more. Still in the realm of recount, but much more secure.

I'll believe that when I see it. I wouldn't be too surprised if late arriving military absentee votes close the gap, or even flip it. That's why Pennsylvania is so nice to have.

Oh it's certainly very possible, not arguments.

But think about it. The incumbent Republican President is currently losing Georgia, and even military votes might not flip him back. That's insane.

A Republican losing both Georgia and the Military (or even winning them by a tiny margin) is a like a Lesbian Marriage that fails the Bechdel Test level of "Jesus Christ how do you screw that up?"

But why has Alaska stalled out at 50% of votes counted? not that it matters, just seems weird. did they have 50% of voters vote by absentee?

So, if all the remaining states go to Biden, what will that mean for the Dems about controlling Senate and House?

Looking at CNN, currently the Dems are a lot closer to the majority in both.

Because there weren't five hour lines for Black voters to mail in their ballots.

They're on track to narrowly win the House.

They need two Senate seats. If Georgia doesn't tighten, it will have two runoff elections making it THE political spotlight in the coming months. There's one Alaskan candidate making noise about uncounted absentee votes swinging his race, but no one's sure how much weight to put in it.

Anybody else think the White House is a lot like the movie "Downfall" at this moment?

He hears the sound of artillery. His generals tell him that is Russian artillery, from the forces coming to get him.

In this version, he's happy to hear that.

Well nothing directly. We won't know that until the two Georgia Runoff Elections.

Dem control of the House was never really in question, although it looks like they didn't do as well as they wanted to they still have a safe majority.

The Senate was always going to be close. It's 48-48 now with 3 states (North Carolina which will probably go Red and the aformentioned runoffs in Georgia.)

Also at least Georgia has said at least a sizeable percent of votes still pending are military, which obviously often have to vote from remote locations and whose votes are often the last to arrive.

Which is literally any other year could maybe tip a very, very tight race for the Republican candidate but well...

Then again... we know how accurate polls have been this year...

Because there weren't five hour lines for Black voters to mail in their ballots.

On that will this level of mail in / early voting become the more accepted norm even post-Pandemic? Perhaps not to this extreme level but more common then it was in the past now that people have tried it and it's not longer new and weird? I'm leaning toward Yes.

Damn, four painful, painful years over... Having whiskey, not champagne - the wicked witch of the West is dead!

Then again... we know how accurate polls have been this year...

Like I said even if Trump pulls off this (at this point meaningless win) the fact that this is even a question is insane enough.

If Mike Tyson is fighting a wheelchair-bound deaf blind thalidomide baby the fight shouldn't go to a split decision.

After Trump's speech, that Downfall meme might need redoing as being a bit too low-key.

Nah we'll just have to flip it-

Scene opens with a Trump aide pointing at the electroral map of the US name-checking Zossen (Georgia), Stahnsdorf (Arizona), Frohnau (Nevada) and Pankow (Pennsylvania).

They are interrupted by Mike Pence bringing the latest poll figures to a clearly emotional Trump explaining "Russian troops have entered Berlin"

A devastated Trump struggles to lift a glass of water to his lips with two shaking hands before instructing Don Jr. and Eric to leave the room.

Trump begins screaming at Kayleigh McEnany asking why "Felix Steiner's assault didn't break the Soviets like ordered?".

Kayleigh McEnany starts crying and is comforted by a clearly-grinning Melania.

Trump then goes on a lengthy demented rant, (editor note: just cut in any old random Trump speech at this point) accusing, among other things, Chris Christie of "spending years only learning to use a knife and fork at the military academy" and stating that dead American soldiers are "the scum of the German people" and that COVID victims "deserve to drown in their own blood".

The scene ends on a quiet note as a broken Trump CAPSLOCKS tweets "IF U THINK I'M GONNA 2 LEAVE BERLIN YOUR SRSLY MISTAKEN. I'D RATHER BLOW MY OWN BRAINS OUT. DO WHATEVA YOU LIKE #SADHITLER"

Fade to black.
That was what I was envisioning but hadn't seen how to explain that

Based on the geography to population ratio, I think a visit to the 'local' polling place might be akin to the Batan death march

So... are the rats going to start deserting the sinking ship with a forced "Trump? Oh I never supported Trump I just got coffee, barely knew the guy..." affect or will they go down with the ship?

Given that the US Military generaly is favorable to Republicans this shows .how much some of Trump's antica and comments have turned off a lot of people in the Military.

Expect the Republicans to wage an all out war on it. Voter suppression is much more difficult with mail in voting. GA went Dem!

Don't know about y'all, but my response to the whining is "He lost, get over it."

I see some republicans on Twitter who are resolved to the loss, but are now trying the, "68 million people voted for him, you need be nice to them."

I won't quite get to the point of "**** your Feelings" but I'm thinking it.

I'm leaning toward the various Southern states exploring all the ways to make it equally a pain in the ass. They didn't spend the last half century rebuilding Jim Crow just to have some virus come along and wipe out all their hard work.
