2020 Presidential Election part 2

I haven't heard his statement; I'd have to see the exact words ... but his worry encourages me, because it indicates he's not confident that those pink states will become properly red. Does he know something we don't?

“This is a fraud on the American public,” he told a crowd of supporters, in a reckless and unsubstantiated string of remarks about the democratic process. “This is an embarrassment to our country. We were getting ready to win this election. Frankly, we did win the election.”

You're not here. You have no idea how much damage he has done to the judiciary, the basic functions of government and our relationships with foreign governments, not to mention stealing babies from their parents, locking children in cages and his catastrophic negligence in dealing with covid. Institutions have resisted him as best they can, but they weakening. The U.S. is in grave danger.

Sounds like you trust the MSM, google, FB, twitter, and youTube.

Last thing: Nate Silver on ABC is saying that he think Biden has a 93% chance of winning. Of course, that's if votes get counted. And he makes an important point: N.C. counts ballots if they are postmarked by Nov. 3 and arrive by Friday.

We may not know who won by Friday.

That just shows he mocked a lot of people, one of whom was disabled.

It shows that the movements / voice everyone said was a specific, targeted mockery of a disabled reporter - is in fact just his generic "flustered idiot I don't agree with or like" persona he puts on and has done for years prior to the incident in question.

In other words, the claim is total BS.

It says a lot about you that you see "mainstream media" -- meaning legitimate news enterprises -- as interchangeable with FB, twitter and YT. No, they're not.

When the jobs don't come back, when Covid-19 takes off in rural areas, when trade wars further damage farmers and other industries, and all the other things that could happen, I do believe people could sour on him pretty quickly. Nixon swept the whole freakin' country in 1972, was history two years later.

There's also unintended consequences ... too tired to think about it now, but his voters may find out a second Trump term isn't as swell as they thought it would be.

Sounds a lot like 2016

Did he just say he wants counting to stop?

They've been building up to this for several weeks now. The phenomenon of the Red Mirage and the Blue Shift are real - in other words, in-person voting favours Republicans and main-in voting favours Democrats. Add to that the fact that in some (many?) Republican-led states absentee ballots can only be opened and counted after all in-person votes have been counted, and mail-in ballots can only be counted after all absentee ballots have been counted, and you have a situation where declaring a result on election day heavily favours Republicans.

So Trump et. al. have been laying the groundwork for that for weeks.

Big problems and discrepancies with Mail In Ballots all over the USA. Must have final total on November 3rd.

Kavanaugh's notorious Supreme Court concurrence was also part of this set-up: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...-ruling-bush-gore-2020-election-b1377788.html

Not convinced. His supporters have proven immune to reality for four years, I see no reason to believe they’ll change in another 4 years if they didn’t change now. Sadly there appear to be a lot more deplorables than first thought.

More worryingly, it’s clear he succeeded in his main aim of making sure people disbelieve the MSM so with the media de-powered and the courts on his side the brakes really are off if he wins.

Still possible Biden squeaks in but a close thing will not make the GOP see it needs to mend its ways and looks like he may be crippled by a still Republican Senate.

I thought Biden was a dreadful choice but the polls suggested I was wrong - turns out it may have been the other way round...
Yeah, the trumpkins will sink even deeper into their bubbles now. I would have thought a lot of them would have turned their backs on him by now, after four years of ****-ups and scandals, but they seem to only have started to love him even more.

You prove my point.

MSM are leftist activists, no longer journalists. They are almost as efficient at hiding information as are FB-twitter-youTube.

MSM is owned by about six corporate entities

You're lying or deluded. The reporter has a disability that affects his arms, and Trump was mocking that specific reporter -- who he knew -- and his specific disability.

Despite my anger, I'm going back to bed because Mrs. Shemp is threatening to divorce me if I don't.

Hmmm, maybe I should think about this. Also, I don't think this will be over by morning anyway.

You have a wife? Who lives with you?

There have been many surprises in my life, but this is close to the biggest.

Great. What are your sources of information outside your own direct experience?

Very interesting.

Kavanaugh has already given a strong suggestion that he agrees.

And with Barrett on the court, Kavanaugh is the swing vote. So, basically, yes he has enough people in the Supreme Court to win.

Note for anybody who thinks Barrett would have to recuse: Trump (and McConnell?) explicitly said that they wanted her on the Supreme Court before the election so that she could be a part of any rulings that were to do with the election.

No, he called non-Cuban latinos rapists and murderers. The Cubans backed him.

You're right, and I was aware of the distinction - but I'm still surprised at the disconnect 'Oh he just called those other immigrants rapists and murderers, we're ok though'.

That's reassuring. The 93%, that is.

Of course, as you say, that is if all the votes are counted. Which, in a democracy, you'd think would go without saying, but this is the Trump era.
