2020 Presidential Election

Is there one republican who has said "of course we should count all votes."?

Fairly counting votes makes less likely for rethuglican authoritarians to win, so of course not.

Why isn't an armed caravan of Trump supporters surrounding and harassing the Biden/Harris bus and ramming into volunteer vehicles in Texas not a bigger story?

You complain about that yet you yourself did not gave any sources or links.

Pulling facts out your derrière I see.

Coming from you, that's hilarious.

Did you look at the ALEC information? At what point do you think the ALEC people are going to concede? A week after the election? A month?

Immediately, when they see the size of the loss and recognise they'd be jeopardising their own agenda by taking on King Canute's mantle.

Angrysoba put it well:

Trump will want to cling on to the death, but where is the incentive for the GOP to do so as a whole? There isn’t any. They have lost elections before and they know what it means that they don’t get to win this time around but why are they going to risk establishing a dictatorship for the sake of Donald ******* Trump?

I don’t doubt that he will try various things such as p-hacking the vote but as The Atheist points out, unless it is a close thing like 2000 in Florida, there is no worthwhile reward for completely making a mockery of the election.

Anyway, little point arguing - we'll know for certain in four days' time.

If I'm wrong, I'll admit it, but right now it looks like scaremongering and nothing more.

Obama in Detroit: "If Trump were focused on Covid from the beginning, cases wouldn't be reaching new record highs, some of the places he's holding rallies have seen new spikes after he leaves, turns out he was building a wall to keep us in by bungling this pandemic."

Its a pretty big story. It's all over the news. That said, its the kind of thing that backfires. They have just provided more negative news for Trump.

"... There'll be nothing. We'll be nothing."

Mission accomplished internationally. Everyone has pushed the US around under Trump, even if his supporters think him tough. China, Russia, NK and Erdogan all have publicly taken him basically for a clueless chump.

And that's what NATO and the EU have discovered, that suddenly in the US as a trusted partner they have nothing. Biden will be a momentary salve, but there are two parties in the US, and one of them spells disaster. I'm with Macron in building enough capability to defend Europe on its own.

Might even end up with better fighter jets.

Is Obama really the best the Democrats can wheel out give the many controversies that dogged his terms of POTUS? I'm sure people haven't forgotten that he wore a tan suit and a soldier held an umbrella for him!

Why do you need such statement ? 538 says the chance is 10%. It means there is a chance. It is withing error of the polls. At the moment you just can't say Biden will win. It would be, above all else, unskeptical.

Huh? I was responding to theprestige'c assessment of the polling. I nowhere claimed that Biden will win the election.

Just listened to the latest Trump Inc. podcast episode Radiolab:What if?).
It's about the blue/red exercise about the 2020 elections that were done early this year.

Short version: it's quite possible that we will need the Joint Chiefs to make the final decision if neither side decides to admit defeat.

Trump's distain for the Generals might still bite him in the ass.

I can't imagine how the Joint Chiefs even come into play, much less decide a winner. Explain the scenario.

Texas Republicans have asked a federal judge to throw out 100,000 ballots in Harris County cast through curbside voting.
They drew Judge Andrew Hanen a notoriously partisan Republican judge

He has already scheduled an emergency hearing for Monday morning without giving Harris County a chance to file a response brief.
It looks like he may be rushing to throw out 100,000 disproportionately Democratic votes.

Texas Republicans are deploying the theory that only state legislatures have authority over elections.
Because the Harris County Clerk implemented drive-through voting, Republicans say all 100,000 ballots must be tossed.

Do the voters, who voted in good faith and through no fault of their own, not get another kick at the can, if done in time? Or does one ever get only one chance to vote?

If an 'administration error' is all it takes to render null so many votes which can never be re-cast, well, that's effed up.

A different issue but similar effects. Georgia, for instance, is important for both Trump and the two (!) Republicans running for the Senate.

Maybe, in terms of the p-hacking idea (they stop counting when their candidates are over the line), but less likely that they go full-blown coup in my humble opinion. If they lose the Georgia senators as well as Trump (and that’s a massive if) then the political winds are blowing a gale force against them.
