Cont: Biden for President? Pt 2

Got it a bit backwards - the need for mindless adulation is a symptom, not a cause.

When people scratch their heads and wonder how he could possibly just flip a table and stomp out of negotiations...um, that's what he's always done, and a large part of why he's always failed at business. He dramatically stomps off when nobody's losing, the other persons just go elsewhere.

Shocked that he hates vets with war injuries? Am I the only person who remembers that he threw a fit when there was braille in his elevators, or when he insulted the Special Olympics?

Surrounds himself with yes-men? Um, yes, he's an emotionally stunted troglodyte who *needs* positive attention. He's always thrown a fit when anyone told him "Uh, that's not a good idea, try this instead.", that's why he stays stepping on rakes. It's his desperate lack of self-esteem that causes both an inability to change course *and* a habit of surrounding himself with yes-men.

I agree. His narcissism is a gross over compensation for an extremely weak ego. That is why he can never, ever admit he is wrong. It would be an admittance of weakness which he simply cannot do because he fears he isn't really the strong man he claims he is. He cannot be challenged so he surround himself with those who will not challenge him not because he's strong, but because he fears he's not.

So, the key difference is that Lincoln had no need to rush the process because he was confident that he would win and have the votes to confirm his choice.

By contrast McConnell sees the writing on the wall that Trump is going to lose and even Lindsey Graham is a "maybe" for the next Senate. If they don't get it done before the election they have to do it as lame ducks who lost both the presidential election and their majority in the Senate. Not that they care, but what a pitiful way to end your party's hold of both the Senate and the White House.

That wasn’t the key difference. Although it could be said that one of the probable reasons Lincoln postponed the nomination was to not further divide the Union. Trump’s nomination will cause further division.

Lincoln had already appointed four Supreme Court Justices. That included a Justice to fill a new 10th seat that was added to correspond to the newly created 10th circuit established for California and Oregon. That was a bit of court packing, but Lincoln filled the seat with a Unionist Democrat.

Justice Taney died October 12, 1864. Taney was not anti-slavery (he wrote the majority opinion in the Dred Scott case.) That gave Lincoln a solidly pro-union and anti-slavery court. He had no immediate need to fill that seat.

Lincoln was running against George McClellan, his former general-in-chief. Lincoln’s bitter rival was the Confederacy, not McClellan, although McClellan was against the abolition of slavery. But Lincoln’s prime concern was the preservation of the Union, even it meant losing the battle on slavery.

Months earlier when it became clear that McClellan would be the Democratic nominee and that he might win, Lincoln wrote a secret memorandum to be revealed if it became clear that McClellan would win. In that memo Lincoln pledged that if McClellan won, he would put all his effort to work with McClellan to use his majority influence and his own Presidential powers to end the war before McClellan was inaugurated. It appears Lincoln did not think McClellan would or could preserve the Union on his own.

Lincoln never said exactly why he didn’t nominate a Justice before the election. But the key factor was probably because he did not want to further divide the Union when he was already struggling to with a divided country. But the other likely factors are that he had no immediate need to fill the seat, putting in an anti-slavery Justice could lose him votes among anti-war/pro-slavery democrats, he was likely to win anyway, he wanted to bring together the Union, he wanted to work with McClellan if he lost to at least defeat the Confederacy and preserve the Union, and the matter of slavery would likely be resolved by Constitutional amendment if the Confederacy was defeated.

The plot thickens

That’s right folks, the Facebook executive [Anna Makanju] currently blocking all of the negative evidence of Hunter and Joe Biden’s corrupt activity in Ukraine is the same person who was coordinating the corrupt activity between the Biden family payoffs and Ukraine.

You just cannot make this stuff up folks.

That is a very interesting way to look at how Trump will be viewed by historians. The President who never really stopped campaigning never really took on the responsibilities of the office.
Because, as has been said by many (including me), he might’ve wanted to “be president,” but he in no way wanted the job.

You just cannot make this stuff up folks.

In fact you can. There is little reason to believe the Hunter Biden story is anything more than made up by Russian spies and Rudy Giuliani.

What I love about this story is it proves just how desperate Trump etc want to divert people's attention from the quarter of a million Americans that have died because of Trump's incompetence.

Swing and a miss.

Thank you for such an expansive and informative answer. It certainly paints a picture of a man worried about how best to serve his country. What a contrast.

Every time I hear a Republican claim they're the "party of Lincoln" I want to spew chunks. They are the "party of Lincoln" as much as N. Korea is a Democratic Republic.

The Republican party today isn't even the party of Reagan or Eisenhower or Roosevelt any more.

The current GOP is far more an offshoot of the Dixiecrat Party than the historical Republican Party.

Pay attention. This isn't about Hunter. That's a separate scandal.

One of the most pathetic moves of pantomime debunking is this fake "source criticism". Just dismiss something completely because you don't like the messenger, although the facts of the message are well documented and linked to. So laughable.

In this case you can go meet the fellow here and continue with the links provided in the American Thinker article. All from the horse's mouth.

What scandal? That Rudy Giuliani and Trump are corrupt lying POS? We know that. But you don't care if it is about Trump.

Just more of your stupid, idiotic, lying, crap news sources.

If one wants to know the truth about the American Thinker, then check out the Wikipedia article on that rag.

American Thinker

...

The magazine has been described as a conservative blog.[5][6] Right Wing Watch points out that American Thinker has published an excessively complimentary piece on a white nationalist, claimed women ruined public discourse by complaining about rape, and asserted that rainbow-colored Doritos are a "gateway snack to introduce children to the joys of homosexuality".[7] The site has published falsehoods about climate change.[8]

A column in the American Thinker caused stir over a California plan to require programmable thermostats that could be controlled by officials in the event of power-supply difficulties.[9]

The real scandal CE doesn't have anything to do with Biden. It is that the Trump administration to this day still doesn't have a plan to combat COVID. That they are pushing against COVID testing despite the escalating numbers of people catching COVID and those dying from it. It's a scandal that they only care about dismissing it and wishing it away.

How many more need to die?

The unfolding Hunter laptop scandal. That is separate from the little issue that the person running the "election integrity" thingie driving facebook's blatant censorship of bad news about Creepy Joe is the same person that helped him in his efforts to do the bidding of those Ukrainian oligarchs who bought his service through Hunter, and later ensured "fact checkers" that there's nothing to see here.

This is true. Laptops do fold and unfold.

But it is only a scandal in Conspiracy Theory and right wing rags.

Good luck with that.

Oh by the way, 2380 more Americans died from COVID yesterday.

Do you care? Apparently not.
