Trump and Melania test positive test positive for Covid 19

So far, most of the ones who've posted descriptions of their symptoms sound like they're on Day 2 of showing symptoms of the illness.

But Trump having nasal congestion, cough, and fever on Day 2 is advanced could be a sign of a serious case.

I think it's also a reminder the rapid tests they've been using at the WH to screen people in Trump's vicinity have a high false negative test rate. I mentioned it quite a ways back in the US COVID politics thread. A lot of these people had to have had false negative test results.

Trump tested negative with one of those rapid tests the day of the Biden debate. From what we are seeing now with people testing positive after Trump events all week long, it will be a while before it is sorted who spread this virus first and to whom.

It was criminally irresponsible to keep on doing all the public events when there were clear warning signs.

Trump might be okay because he gets the best treatment, but others will not.

Remember the fundraising event trump went to right before he was diagnosed?

Well it took over a day for the GOP to provide a list of attendees for the contact tracers to, well, trace the contacts. That in itself is unfortunate (although maybe understandable).

However, not all of the attendees have been self-quarantining. one of the donors has been running around, going to work, flying in his private plane, etc.

Yes, I'm pretty sure it's a merged thread. If you look back on page 1, at the top of post # 1 (by marting) you'll see in bold print a line saying "Trump and Melania test positive test positive for Covid 19". That's the thread title, which appears in bold at the top of the opening post of a thread when the thread is started. So marting either started a thread about this topic yesterday at 8:56 pm central time, or posted that comment in the general Trump thread and a mod moved it from there to start a new thread specifically on this topic.

Now look at post # 12 (by Stacyhs). At the top of the post you'll see in bold print a line saying "Trump and Melania test positive test positive for Covid 19", indicating this was the opening post of a thread. So Stacyhs started a thread on this topic today at 12:02 am central time.
At some point the two threads got merged. And since marting's was posted 3 hours earlier and 6 minutes earlier, marting's post appears first in the merged thread.

Something I find interesting is that the merged thread title, which contains what I assume was an inadvertent double use of the phrase test positive, appears at the top of the opening posts of both the threads which were merged. I doubt both marting and Stacyhs made the same error in typing out their thread titles, so it appears that when two threads are merged the same title is placed at the top of both opening posts. I'd never noticed that before. (Or maybe that's what happens when a mod creates a new thread from posts split from an existing thread and merges that with a thread someone else has started. If so, then the error in the title wasn't the fault of either marting or Stacyhs, it's a moderator who typed in "test positive twice"...)

Nope, that was me who accidentally typed "test positive twice" twice in the thread title. I created the thread immediately as the news broke as I was watching TV when they broke into regular broadcast with the news Pacific, not Central, Time. Marting's thread was merged later with my thread but the title of the thread is mine.

Having a basically symptom free corona would have been totally in his best interests - "See, it's a minor flu, like I said, folks". Taking him to hospital then indicates that this is significantly more serious situation as that message now went out of the window even if he returns to White House after a couple of days.

Some early poll numbers... Roughly 6 in 10 think trump was not doing enough to protect himself from getting Covid19. 28% think he was doing enough.
