While strolling around the lavish ambassador’s residence in Paris, he reportedly took a fancy to a number of pieces of artwork, including a bust of Benjamin Franklin and some Greek mythical figurines.
So he ordered them removed from the residence and packed into Air Force One and brought to the White House, according to Bloomberg.
White House spokesman Judd Deere confirmed the poaching, telling Bloomberg, “The president brought these beautiful, historical pieces, which belong to the American people, back to the United States to be prominently displayed in the People’s House.” The ambassador, Jamie McCourt, was surprised but didn’t interfere after Trump reportedly told him they would get their art back “in about six years.”

I think that has been suitably demonstrated.

I think that it's long since been demonstrated that nihilism has a very heavy influence on the Trump side. Which... honestly isn't a surprise reaction to GOP propaganda and efforts. Fear and hate takes a toll on any and everyone (though conservatives physically measurably more, at last check, given that their brains tend react notably more quickly and strongly to the stimuli) and applying a dirty bandage over festering wounds isn't solving problems, even if you can dupe people into thinking that it helps.

Not just probably... and not necessarily even the ones that we would normally consider more extreme. The rapture and end of the world coming sooner means that they get to be reunited with God sooner (without dying or suffering in their calculations, generally).

It seems the figurines were replicas, made in the 20th century as copies of much older works. It seems just about right that he'd be attracted to them. They're gaudy, overdone, don't match the room and childishly pretentious. The man has no taste.

While I might put it in the list of top 30 gauche things DJT has done after taking office, I would not put it in the top 100 things to complain about.
Now, if he were to take them with him when he leaves, I might say top 60 things to complain about. If he sold them and pocketed the money, then maybe the top 40 things to complain about.

Although in the top 40 things to complain about, it would probably be practical to leave maybe 10 empty spaces for things that are going to come out in the next 6-18 months.
