"I do not want to go to another funeral for one of my students."

'School' - Lincoln Project

I wonder if part of the reason trumpkins still stand by him is that it's too difficult to own up to all the damage, suffering, and deaths their president has caused, and they in turn have indirectly causes by enabling him. Escaping into safe alternative facts echo chambers must be very tempting in such situations.

Literally unbelievable. This is exactly like saying "oh, no he didn't die from cancer/suicide/stroke/car crash/etc, he died because his heart stopped".

But it is the sort of denial which will go down well with Trump supporters and lunatics around the world.

"guns don't kill people, trauma and blood loss do".

They don't know about it. Their primary sources are Fox TV, AM radio and crazy internet sites, and they're hearing that it's all fake news, socialist plots and/or it's just like flu. The Trumpers literally don't believe that 180,000+ people have died.

Maybe we should hope covid will become more contagious, and spread faster through the red states.

Didn't you hear? It's only 9,000 now. The other 171,000 died of something else.

A couple of hours ago Herman Cain tweeted that he thought the death rate was over blown. Yes that Herman Cain. The dead one. The one the virus killed.

A person killed by the virus tweeted that virus wasn't all that bad.

If that's not a perfect metaphor for our post fact world I don't know what is.

I brought this up here 3 weeks ago but just a couple of days ago it’s starting appearing every where across the internet.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released new data last week that depicts how many Americans who have died from COVID-19 also had other contributing conditions.

According to the report, only 6% of deaths have COVID-19 as the only cause mentioned, revealing that 94% of patients who died from coronavirus also had other “health conditions and contributing causes

Yup. Take Herman Cain for example. He died from suffocation due to his nose being all up Trump's ass.

It's more like saying "his bad leg made him slow crossing the road so he shouldn't be counted in the road accident statistics after being knocked down by a bus".

Seriously, we've known from the start that almost any existing health problem increases someone's chances of dying if they catch Covid-19. What on earth is the point being made here? Perhaps Gavin can explain it to us.

"The Left was being dramatic, tanked the economy, and 90% of the people would have just died anyway" is the message they have to get across.

It's like when antivaxxers say they don't see the point in getting the MMR shot, because the illnesses 'only kill the sick and the weak'.

"Okay, so corona virus killed grandma, but she was old and would have died anyway, so that doesn't count!"

"But your honour, the woman I ran over with my truck had terminal cancer, she would've died a couple months from now anyway!"

Also, trumpkins don't appear to have the ability to feel empathy, so the fact that these patients are dying alone, of a terrible illness, without their loved ones around them, does not seem to matter much to them.

Post-fact world, desperation, untenable position, no facts on their side, inability to admit to mistakes, etc. Thus the Trump supporters appear to all have gone into troll mode. They can't pretend anymore that their views can be defended morally or with reason or facts. I mean, they never could be, but it's been getting steadily worse since 2016.

Obviously I'm not a doctor but I don't understand how being infected with Covid-19 alone could kill someone. How? A person's bacteria count would get so high that they...just die? My impression is, it's a virus that attacks the immune system. That it opens-the-door, so to speak, for a variety of pathogens to attack the body. Below is a quote from Forbes magazine's healthcare writer, Bruce Lee:
If you want to know why the original Tweet was inaccurate or misleading, just read the rest of what the CDC indicated after the 6%: “For deaths with conditions or causes in addition to COVID-19, on average, there were 2.6 additional conditions or causes per death.” Take a gander at what these additional conditions or causes are. They include things such as adult pneumonia, respiratory distress syndrome, respiratory failure, respiratory arrest, other diseases of the respiratory system, and sepsis. Hmmm, these sound very much like the things that Covid-19 can lead to and what can ultimately kill people with severe Covid-19...This is a reminder that the virus can trigger a series of events that can ultimately take a person’s life. In fact, with Covid-19 leading to all sorts of problems in the body, the probability is high (say over 90%) that something else will then be recorded as a cause of death in addition to Covid-19. It would actually be unusual to simply put Covid-19 as a cause of death without specifying what led to the patient’s demise. Forbes link

This is not hard to understand but it is obvious some people don't want to understand. They made their minds up months ago that the whole thing was exaggerated and that was that. You can't reason with them because they want to believe that. It's who they are. Remember Sean Hannity back in the beginning of March? 'Reporting' to the American public that some officials (Democrats!) were actually considering a shutdown for a virus that hadn't even killed anyone? Hannity looked into the camera and said very somberly. "Do you know how many Americans have lost their lives to this disease? Zero. That's right. Zero."

Now, 183,000 deaths later, has Hannity -- or any of the other Fox talking heads -- retracted their earlier, totally misleading reports? ("It's no worse than the common cold!" - Jeanine Pirro) No, of course not. They're busy spinning the CDC 6% angle.

You need to read all the posts above where this gross distortion of facts has been thoroughly debunked.

This isn't correct. If people were dying from secondary bacterial pneumonia, we could treat that with antibiotics.

COVID 19 damages cells, causes inflammation directly, cytokine storm can happen, and more.

you can read how they are classifying deaths as Covid deaths yourself, the age of the Covid patients is public, the underlying health conditions related to the deaths is public, we know somewhere around 50% of the deaths were in nursing homes or hospitals when they contracted the virus. It’s all public information that is being reported by the agencies creating the guidelines. The problem is how some politicians, the media, and other public figures portray the data. They leave out the fact that a lot of these deaths weren’t caused by Covid, they leave out the fact that 80% of people that contract the virus are asymptomatic or have mild symptoms that never leads them to get tested. If you take the number of positive cases and add the 80% then take the number of deaths as reported the death rate is 0.4% and rapidly dropping if you adjust the death rate to reflect the number of deaths caused by Covid from deaths with Covid the death rate is somewhere around 0.2% or lower and rapidly dropping. Then if you consider the fact that a large portion of those people that died from Covid would have died if they contracted any form of coronavirus including the seasonal flu the death rate drops to somewhere around 0.05%.

Optimist aren't ya? :D

I'm having this same damn discussion on my neighborhood forum. I keep reporting the posts promoting the QAnon CT. I've asked them to please close the thread as is the forum's policy when people are spreading this BS but it remains open.
