WH chief of staff Mark Meadows today on Trump:

“The president is not only well-prepared, but reads so much that it causes me to have to read many times well into the night to catch up with him.”

Well he certainly seems to tweet well into the night. Must be a modicum of reading going on there. I suppose his handlers need to stay up to read his tweets as they occur for damage limitation.

Statement From Yale Faculty on Hydroxychloroquine and Its Use in COVID-19

"It is critical that we follow the science and where the evidence leads us on a quest to treat and prevent COVID-19. In this climate, it’s important to rely on the data above all else when making clinical or regulatory decisions. Making these kinds of choices guided by personal endorsements outside of the context of the existing scientific evidence is medicine by testimonial and risks people’s lives."

Someone needs to hammer this into Trumps head.

It’s too many biggie words.

The trouble is that the science is complicated and uncertain so it's difficult to know what to do.

Much "better" to keep throwing hail-Marys and hope for a miracle. President Trump wants to be the person seen to save the US from Coronavirus. He can't wait for some Poundexters to publish research, he'll go with his gut (and/or pillow guy) and it doesn't matter if he's wrong a few times.

Incredible that @CNN & MSDNC aren’t covering the Roll Call of States. Fake News! This is what the Republican Party is up against. Also, I’d like to hear the remarks of the Delegates from individual States, rather than @FoxNews anchors. Ridiculous!

All the Radical Left Democrats are trying to do with the Post Office hearings is blame the Republicans for the FRAUD that will occur because of the 51 Million Ballots that are being sent to people who have not even requested them. They are setting the table for a BIG MESS!

Probably because it's the same boring in-person roll call that every convention in history has done before, but with more sucking up and lies.

Some quotes

During the roll call, a representative from Arkansas lauded his state as a place “where unborn babies matter.” A Colorado delegate said the state’s votes were being cast for Mr. Trump because he “protected us from a worldwide pandemic.”

Mr. Trump — who took the stage to as the crowd chanted “Four more years!” — began with a provocation.
“If you want to really drive them crazy, you say 12 more years,” Mr. Trump said.

He launched immediately into unfounded allegations that President Barack Obama and Vice President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. had spied on his campaign. “ We caught them doing really bad things,” he said. “Let’s see what happens. They’re trying it again.”

“Four more years means more judges,” Mr. Pence said. “Four more years means more support for our troops and our cops. It’s going to take at least four more years to drain that swamp.”

So what have they been doing for the last four years instead of draining?

So what have they been doing for the last four years instead of draining?

This is why he's had to really build up "The Deep State" conspiracy nonsense.

He's the President. The Republicans own the Senate. The President of the Senate is his toadying sycophant. He's handpicked two Justices for the Supreme Court.

And he's the bestest smartest who knows best about everything.

So everything should be perfect. But it demonstrably isn't. It's not perfect. Or even getting better. So he needs a shadowy boogeyman to point at as the reason he still hasn't gotten anything done.

And they have to do all this to maintain the narrative that "Making things better" is really their goal, a narrative which is dropping away more and more and being replaced with "Yeah we're just here to troll."

:dl:

I suppose he's counting Trump reading Twitter into the night or something.

Or they, like Trump and his cronies, think it's okay because it's mostly libruls and black people in cities dying.

Ehhh, I don't think that's a conscious thought by many people. Maybe by Trump and his immediate ilk, but other Trump supporters probably have rationalizations like it's no different from the flu and it's up to God.

OMG, now that's interesting. I was watching the House hearing on DeJoy and the USPS and when it ended I switched to the other CSPAN channel for a minute. They were having the states' roll call live. My first thought was it's quite dull compared to the Democrats' convention. My second was that must be why they are putting this on during the day instead of during the convention itself.

That Trump is complaining that it isn't being covered live is pitiful. Did Fox cover it live? I imagine Donny watched every minute since everyone cheered that he got unanimous delegate votes.
