Trump Retweeted
The Hill
@thehill
VP Mike Pence: "Sen. Kamala Harris said she would change the dietary guidelines of this country to reduce the amount of red meat that Americans can eat."
Crowd boos.
VP: "Well I've got some red meat for you: We're not going to let Joe Biden & Kamala Harris cut America's meat!"

Thousands of boaters hit the water in Clearwater on Saturday in an effort to set a record for the largest pro-Trump boat parade.

No1Trump2020 @No1Trump2020 Nice Thumbs up to see a Black Woman back the Trumpster.. Yes Honey, you are Welcome in this Tent.. !! Keep it going!!

I just wanted to confirm. Yesterday people were discussing "honey," which I don't believe that the President said, and it dawns on me that he doesn't say a lot of the block quoted stuff that is shared here.

No one claimed Trump said it. It was clearly identified as a retweet and by whom.

As I said yesterday, I can't tell who says what when that stuff is posted. Most of the retweets I have read come with a line from the person re-tweeting it, and I thought that's what the last line is on some of those quotes. Like some guy tweeted "nice thumbs up" and Trump forwarded it, adding "yes honey".

Trump Tweets

People forget how divided our Country was under ObamaBiden. The anger and hatred were unbelievable. They shouldn’t be lecturing to us. I’m here, as your President, because of them!

John Kasich did a bad job in Ohio, ran for President and was easy to beat, and now went to the other side desperate for relevance. Good Job by Chris C in exposing yet another loser!

A horrible Governor. Crime is taking over NYC & State, everyone is leaving. He is after the NRA - They should move to Texas or elsewhere, and must get tough. Cuomo killed 11,000 people in nursing homes alone. Crooked & Incompetent!

I see Trump is projecting again.

I say this with no ill intent, carlitos, but certainly you've been on the internet long enough to recognise what @name means, and to spot the name "The Hill", for instance, at the top of one of the quotes.

Trump is not only talking to God, he says it publicly.

Back to the Susan B Anthony pardon:

Re overturning the verdict, I found this:
The Trial of Susan B Anthony
Directed verdict
Justice Hunt’s directed verdict stood, but debate about it in the legal community
carried on for some time. It provided the basis for Susan B. Anthony to petition
Congress for a remission of her fi ne. It prompted members of Congress to pass
legislation (vetoed by the President) to permit the appeal of federal criminal convictions
to the Supreme Court of the United States. One month after Ward Hunt retired
from the Supreme Court in 1882, U.S. Circuit Judge George W. McCrary in Kansas
ruled that the decision in United States v. Susan B. Anthony was a clear violation of
the constitutional guarantee to a trial by jury.
“There can, within the meaning of the
constitution, be no trial of a cause by a jury,” he wrote, “unless the jury deliberates
upon it and determines it.” In 1895, the Supreme Court in Sparf et al. v. United States
held that federal courts did not have the authority to direct a jury to return a guilty
verdict in a criminal trial
That sounds like overturning the verdict to me.

I know that "@" is someone's handle, but I wasn't sure every time if it was going to "@" somebody, or coming from @ somebody. The former makes more sense to me, since that's what the "at" sign literally means.

I have never seen Tweets in plain text; they make a lot more sense when on Twitter. I really did think that sometimes Trump was sending them along with a comment, like the crazy uncle email "read this and forward to everyone you know" - is that never the case here?

I think he needs to read up a bit on the End Times.:p
He does the best End Times - probably nobody in history has done more for the End Times than Donald Trump. I don't want him to read up on it. Maybe he'll decide he's the second coming and the world will end while he's on top. He'll take the whole world out with him. No thanks.

“Did I do a great job, God? I'm the only one that could do it.” Trump boasts how the economic impact of the pandemic is God testing his abilities.
I wonder if that phony piety and presumptuousness will turn off any of the Christians who matter to him. I'm happy to report that on this campus owned by the Congregationalist church (United Church of Christ) almost everyone despises him. They're so liberal they passed out Black Lives Matter buttons and wished people a happy Ramadan on their marquee out front. Well, they used to; now it says "No Visitors Please."

They are finally letting us out to do in-store shopping. Eleven people died here: 7 in the care center (nursing home), 2 in assisted living and 2 in independent living (apartments). But they've held that number steady for several weeks now. They are a lot less concerned about contagion in the individual apartments. I know they're basing this on metrics, not ideology. There are still no visitors allowed to the care center. If it were an end-of-life issue, I'm sure they'd find some isolation room where people could be with dying relatives, but short of that, no. Couples have been separated for 5+ months, with many spouses suffering from severe dementia (or maybe they're not suffering; don't know how that feels). Dozens of staff members eventually tested positive; no deaths. Even in the nursing home, some people have been asymptomatic or are considered recovered. Sorry, this is not really about Trump, but in case anyone is wondering - there is a Christian left. Maybe not enough to offset the evangelical wing, but I'm not so sure.

Mom turns 96 next month; looks like we may be able to celebrate with family!

:sdl:

Seriously, that's the big announcement?

Wiki: Susan B Anthony vs the United States.

The whole thing was a platform to challenge the denial of voting rights through the courts. She was denied a jury trial then found guilty and ordered to pay $100. She refused and the judge tried to hold her in contempt of court but that had problems:

So Trump wants to pardon her for a fine of $100 that she never paid.

And she didn't want a pardon for an unjust charge. She wanted a hearing in front of the SCOTUS.
Corrections made, the fine was $100, not $1. It was too late to edit.

Hey if you're arguing for better formatting I'm with you. I'm just saying that he's been doing it long enough so that it should be clear by now.

We have been so numbed by the abysmal level of this "presidency" that the sheer absurdity of this statement doesn't even register.

How on earth could the president of the US not be aware of the Snowden situation?

And how is he not aware of the Snowden situation when he publicly suggested his execution?
At the time of his 2014 tweet, Trump probably hadn't thought the Snowden thing through. Later he realized it was OK, even laudable, to be a traitor during the Obama administration. So now he's a freedom fighter, or something. Plus how bad of a guy could he be if Putin is giving him safe haven? Trump sees him as a true patriot exposing the overreach of the Deep State.

They should have him speak at the convention on Skype or whatever the cool kids are doing now.
