Sweden tried that. It was a horrid failure.

Oh, I give up. Worthless trying to present facts to you.
Please don't give up.

This the USA Politics board.

Suggestion: try to understand the style, and where possible copy it.

Lot of folks at Sturgis this week.

Might be some good deals on Harleys coming up soon.

I feel bad for the 60 percent of people who live there who had the good sense to not want the rally. One hopes they stocked up and hunkered down as much as they good until the super-spreader even is over.

.....
instead of just holding hearings where congressmen ask, "What do you think is the worst thing about President Trump?"

Let's just note that if a Congressman asks that question, he is followed by a Trumpist Congressman who asks "Among all his God-like qualities, what do you love most about President Trump?

Indeed.

And that's the point. All too often, the public hearings are rarely about finding out important information. They are alll about making political points, usually related to the president. Under normal circumstances, that wouldn't be such a bad thing, but right now, in the USA, we have a situation where that dominates the public dialog. There is an important element of communication from government that is simply lacking. It really ought to come from the president, but he's a moron so that's not going to happen, so perhaps the Speaker of the House could fill the gap.

All the information I'm talking about is, of course, available in the public sphere, but most people don't have the inclination and/or ability to hunt it down. Government has a role in educating the public about this stuff. In the US, it just isn't doing a good job of it.

And... Here's something that hit me a bit hard. Not that it had much in the way of revelations, but...

What Does America’s Coronavirus Response Look Like Abroad? | NYT Opinion

It's youtube and, well... perhaps it's helpful for perspective when people like me have been stuck in this nightmare for so long that it is indeed feeling like a new normal, however much it absolutely should not be such.

I suppose that Trump may indeed be beginning to have turned lies into truth in some of the most horrible ways. While the world has laughed at the US a lot (because of Trump), pity and horror seems to be replacing laughter absurdly quickly.
And closed borders. Really we'd prefer if you stayed home and didn't infect other countries.

This is a wish, not a fact. The last major pandemic (HIV) is still with us and still causes a million 700,000 deaths a year. The last pandemic flu event was 2009. We had a near miss with SARS. Even assuming this was a 1:100 years event it falls at random, the chance of a pandemic event in five years time will be the same as it was this year. Many experts think the risk of another pandemic event is rising. The worst mistake to make is to think we are through Covid-19 so we don't have to worry for a few decades.
There were four major influenza pandemics in the twentieth century, there'll be another.

the risk your children will die from #Covid is 1 in 1,000,000.
And the source for this assertion is...?
And how many people will infected children go on to infect? And how many children will suffer long term effects from Covid-19 infection?

1918 Flu
SARS
Ebola
Polio
"Mad Cow"

Those are just a few of the infectious diseases that have resulted in national level responses from various governments. COVID-19 is simply the most recent.
Don't forget the other 'flu pandemics, of '57 and '68.

Their opinions based on her personal political preferences
No. "They" are facts, errors, omissions and incompetence of the Trump regime.
Your inference of a political motivation is just that.

COVID-19 is significantly more infectious than the flu. Also, you are wrong on both counts, there were numerous cities that implemented “lockdowns” for the 1917 flu.
I wonder if returning to allowing Health Police to shoot people who refuse to wear masks would be an improvement...

I have covered this there hasn’t been enough time to determine long term disabilities why are none of the major news networks reporting on long term disabilities?
They are. You aren't listening.
