What is delicious about this is that when Charlotte wouldn't promise him carte blanc to fill their facility to capacity regardless of Covid19 ... telling him that it would depend on the circumstances surrounding Covid19 precautions when the time came ... he threw a tantrum, picked up his toys, and loudly proclaimed he was going to move it. Jacksonville, apparently, being more accommodating to his ego and destructive urges.

But not all of the GOP nomination functions have been cancelled, and now the essential ones are still going to be held.

Guess where?

When will people learn? Everything Trump touches dies. Well, more accurately everyone who gets involved with Trump comes off the worse for it. Business partners, contractors, friends, relatives, customers, staff, lawyers, political supporters, etc. They come away with their wallets emptied, their reputations in ruins, or both. His entire life has consisted of using other people and throwing them under a bus. Why not an entire city (or two) and all of the supporters who have devoted time, money, and resources toward delivering the type of epic coronation Trump had insisted on... until yesterday.

I spoke to highly respected (Chairman) Senator @JimInhofe, who has informed me that he WILL NOT be changing the names of our great Military Bases and Forts, places from which we won two World Wars (and more!). Like me, Jim is not a believer in “Cancel Culture”.

Great job by @elonmusk in agreeing to build, in TEXAS, what is expected to be the largest auto plant anywhere in the world. He kept his word to me. Texas & @Tesla are big winners. MADE IN THE USA!

Why is Trump saying Elon Musk agreed’ to build in TX as if Trump made some big move that persuaded Musk to do so?
Same way Trump is with the Space X program

Could be wrong about this, but I don't think a single senator (even the chairman of the armed forces committee) can really do much to stop the renaming at this point.

Both the house and senate have passed defense spending bills that include provisions to rename bases, and the senate bill passed 86-14.

The senator is correct. He will not be renaming the bases.

ETA: And by the way, only about half the bases named after confederates were around in WWI.

At this point since it's become "a thing" in the political discourse, even if we rename, for instance, Fort Bragg there's a fair chance we'll just run into the "Yeah you can say it's technically called Willis Tower and put it on all the signs and paperwork you want, but don't kid yourself it's still the Sears Tower" problem.

He has always been perfectly happy to claim credit for things he has had nothing to do with.

SpaceX set up at Boca Chica because its in a state where there's plenty of potential employees with experience in spaceflight and there's plenty of room to blow stuff up. :) There was probably a political dimension in trying to make sure that Texas politicians had less reason to lobby in favour of some of the 'old space' firms. Trump had nothing to do with it.

And a clear shot over water to the east for launches. And hey, if the rocket goes awry there's a 50-50 chance it'll land on Mexico!

It certainly seemed that he was just picking words out of the air at the time, and their relative association to one another suggests a mind not exactly trying to overreach. All the same, I'm sure I'm not alone in giving him the old golf clap for his superhuman ability to remember 5 words.

trump is like the Mechanical Turk, but the guy inside died ages ago from secret government mind-rays.
Not out of the air. Camera, TV, think about it. Those were things he was looking at, aka cues.

Yes they do.

Not all get shown on broadcast TV/cable (some are only shown on line), but they do sometime buy air time to target their ads to select states and/or broadcasters to get the best effect.

Example:
Argus Leader - Ads shown in south dakota prior to Trump's event there

Politico - Mentions broadcasting of ads in battleground states and on Fox News
