I never considered it from that perspective.
That observation explains so very much. I was baffled as to how kneeling was a sign of respect for thousands of years, but somehow suddenly became a symbol of disrespect. I didn’t understand why the First Amendment was not as important as arresting people for burning their own property. I didn’t grasp why people so adamantly insisted that Confederate statues were not symbols of racism.

It also covers the Pledge of Allegiance and the importance of having “In God We Trust” on every coin and every bill. And why the security tape in the new bills can’t be a clever anti-counterfeiting device but instead must be part of a nefarious plan.

But nobody bring up the suggestion that Trump just might refuse to step down. We wouldn't want to be "dramatic" now would we?

Just pretend he's going to be playing the "The election isn't going to be legit" song from now to November just because he likes the beat and not because he wants to get it stuck in his followers heads.

He can refuse all he wants. Once the electoral college votes, the next president is chosen. Even if the electoral college cannot decide; on Jan 20, his term ends regardless. There is no way getting around that. Either the person chosen by the electoral college is sworn in for the next presidential term, or it falls to the line of succession. There is no option C here.

Yeah. And asking about that song of his supporters is antithetical to discussing politics in good faith, so don't do that either.

Unless he can convince the right people that the elections were rigged.

But even if not, it can still cause quite a bit of trouble.

If there's any kind of "blue wave" which results in a number of Senate Republicans being out on their rears, then it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to assume that they would be willing to declare the election rigged and demand a full investigation into it.

A quick court case in a "favourable" state and have it kicked up to the Supreme Court and take their chances ?

Indeed, in swing states where they hold the state legislature, could they declare the results void, or conduct a recount excluding votes (postal or otherwise) from districts deemed suspect (which also happen to be Democratic Party leaning) ?
 
Call me cynical but I kind of want to have a contingency plan just in case the Democrats sweeping the EC, the Senate races, the House races, the Governtoral races, the 5 conservative judges on the Supreme Court all deciding to retire and live in a beach house together for an MTV reality show a week before the election, the Democrats making peace between the East and West Coast Rappers, Biden becoming king of 7 of the Kingdoms of Westeros... and the Riverlands, and Pelosi collecting all the Infinity Stones while Shumar collects the cards necessary to summon Exodia doesn't happen.

One heck of a blue wave going on right now if 270towin.com is to be believed. I didn't know it was possible for the map to be this blue.

The question is, like it was in 2016, if Trump has a tantrum over election results and declares the election illegitimate, or refuses to step down, or demands an investigation, will anything even happen? Won't the transfer of power simply go on like every transition before it, over his protests?
 
Well I hope this Blue Wave is more noticeable than that one in 2016 which I'm still be assured actually happened. I must have missed it when I blinked.

Sure there is. "C" is for "Constitutional Crisis."

Replace Ginsberg when she dies in October, swear in a rabid Trumpie, and the SCOTUS can vote 5-4 that the Constitution does not *actually* say the President's term ends, it's just been misinterpreted up to now.

Just like the 1st Amendment *actually* says corporations are people. And that the 2nd Amendment isn't about Militias, it's *actually* about every American being expected to operate an armory. And so on.
