Hi,

I'm new here and am interested in trying to arrange for a couple of hours for atheist/agnostic/skeptical.... singles to mingle. Can some of you singles out there let me know if you'd be interested in something like that?

Thanks!
Michelle

good plan. Mind you I'm not single or an athiest, but I have a single atheist daughter that could come.

I am agnostic, single, skeptical and available on Thursday night too. Now I don't drink but I play a mean game of Killer Bunnies and/or Kung Fu Fighting (and a few other fun group games) if anyone cares to play some silly games, always a fun way to get to know people :D

Ugh!
I'm witholding comment until I know for sure I can attend

But I do suggest doing something other than "hanging around" in the Stardust.
And I wouldn't exclude non-singles. They'd just have to wear the mark of shame, like a tin-foil hat or something.

Well, I did suggest games. I can bring many with me. Apart from Killer Bunnies, Munchkin, Kung fu Fighting and Tsuro I have a few others. All are suitable for groups and all are very fun and funny games (just reading the cards is a scream in most of them, come on who wouldn't want a pair of "Boots of Butt Kicking"). Good for lots of laughs and the occasional stealing the dead guy's stuff (Munchkin is very good on this one). They don't take long to learn and the rules tend to be rather, ummm, plastic (Munchkin says that all disagreements must be argued loudly and the owner of the game gets the ultimate decision :p ).

There will be plenty of opportunities for people, single and coupled, to socialize over the course of the four days of TAM4 . All we are asking for is an hour or two for singles to be able to meet and mingle. Many of us singles have found it difficult to meet like-minded single people (those of us who don't want to be paired with believers have a very small pond in which to fish) and think TAM could provide an opportunity for some to connect. There is a general reception on Thursday evening, and we have been told the hosts are able and willing to set up a table for singles there.

Like that you mean. I was thinking more of something like a strip crawl. No better way to socialize with like-minded fellow single skeptics than walking through the various hotels getting into mischief like trying out the funny hats and glasses and whatnot from the gift shops. You know: fun stuff.

And of course, there's always the hot tub. Very good for interesting conversation into the wee hours. (And no need to get all undressed either. You can sit on the edge and just soak those aching feet that walked you up and down the strip all evening. Foot rubs available on request)

Well, you have to start somewhere... so why not at the reception on Thursday?

Well, we'll see, but considering attendance at best is about 10-12% female (hopefully better this year) and many of the JREF ladies are married --and have husbands in tow--I foresee a group of about 20-30 guys with 3-4 women present--nah, I'm no good in happy-hour type groups anyway, so I'll give it a pass.

(don't mind me, I'm just a grumpy old coot...if you can manage it, go for it)

I think married female skeptics who are in Vegas alone should also be invited.

Count me in. It'll be my first TAM and I'm attending alone.

I'am not an atheist, but I'am single so I might drop by if that is ok?
