Cont: The Trump Presidency: Part 23

There seems to be a flaw there - Biden had a poor showing in the first primaries because that was his strategy. My understanding was that he purposefully sacrificed the early primaries so he could focus on making a strong showing in the later ones. Spend less money when the field was bigger, make a strong showing later on, and get the people who dropped out in the early stages to back him, and emerge as the consensus candidate.

I think the model is supposed to reflect enthusiasm for the candidate. There is some truth in this, in that polling reflects people's views on candidates and issues, but does not predict turnout. The Trumpsters will deninitely turn up to vote. (they will lose interest by 2022). Democrats are less predictable, but "black lives" will help.

Pardon if it's been posted already:

I will give them this, The Lincoln Project ads have, at the very least, been entertaining.

In all seriousness, I hope the US has the balls to indict Trump for his many crimes when his presidency is over. Even the civil cases should last until long after he's expired ... if there's any justice.

The minute he's out of office, the Government of Canada should sue him, personally, for defamation of character. He corruptly used the power of his office to declare Canada a threat to US national security, merely to bolster his own political prospects at our expense, and contrary to the advice of every actual expert on international relations.

We should sue him, seize every asset he owns in Canada, and put liens on everything else he owns in the world. Calculate our damages based on the decrease in our GDP that he was largely responsible for.

For those salivating over rethugs from The Lincoln Project, remember. Enemy of my enemy is enemy of my enemy. Nothing less, nothing more. I wouldn't trust them as far I can spray with AK-47.

The reason for the original adage is that you should gather all of your forces to defeat your foes, even if that means temporary alliances with people who might otherwise be foes themselves. Refusing to do so can only result in defeat.

Sounds like the SCOTUS ruled against him in the tax return thing. Shouldn't be a surprise.

Don't know any details.

Or, they're the thin edge of the wedge. They're not just attacking Trump - now they're also going after a bunch of the worst of the worst GOP senators.

The US needs a reformed Republican Party that isn't a bunch of thugs, idiots and/or nutbags. The people behind The Lincoln Project seem to have realized this. It's not going to be Democrats who fix this problem. It's going to be Republicans, pointing out to their fellow Republicans that their party has gone completely off the rails, who fix this, if it can be fixed.

If they get enough Trumpistas to stop and actually think about what they're doing, it's just barely possible that they might start thinking about all their other stupid **** as well.

Lord knows, nothing else has worked so far, so I say, let them fight. They couldn't possibly make things worse.

I would suggest you will be behind a very long queue of people who already have such liens.

They ruled against him in the case involving SDNY getting access to his tax returns and financial records.

They ruled in his favor denying Congress access to his tax returns.

That's how I read it anyway.

So long as he and his issue are impoverished unto the tenth generation, we'll stand in that line.

1. Breaking: In a 7-2 decision, The Supreme Court has ruled against Trump on his tax returns and the Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance.

The Manhattan DA/Grand Jury will get his tax returns.

Justice Kavanaugh joined the majority.

Justices Thomas and Alito dissented.

2. Breaking: In a 7-2 decision, SCOTUS sends the case involving Trump's accountants and Deutsche bank (for Trump's tax returns and financial records) back to the lower courts to deal with separation of powers concerns.

Again, Kavanaugh and Gorsuch joined the majority on this

Courts in the past have given “broad deference”. BUT NOT ME!

https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1281236214646034432

The Supreme Court sends case back to Lower Court, arguments to continue. This is all a political prosecution. I won the Mueller Witch Hunt, and others, and now I have to keep fighting in a politically corrupt New York. Not fair to this Presidency or Administration!

https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1281238367464808454

We have a totally corrupt previous Administration, including a President and Vice President who spied on my campaign, AND GOT CAIGHT...and nothing happens to them. This crime was taking place even before my election, everyone knows it, and yet all are frozen stiff with fear....

....No Republican Senate Judiciary response, NO “JUSTICE”, NO FBI, NO NOTHING. Major horror show REPORTS on Comey & McCabe, guilty as hell, nothing happens. Catch Obama & Biden cold, nothing. A 3 year, $45,000,000 Mueller HOAX, failed - investigated everything....

....Won all against the Federal Government and the Democrats send everything to politically corrupt New York, which is falling apart with everyone leaving, to give it a second, third and fourth try. Now the Supreme Court gives a delay ruling that they would never have given...

....for another President. This is about PROSECUTORIAL MISCONDUCT. We catch the other side SPYING on my campaign, the biggest political crime and scandal in U.S. history, and NOTHING HAPPENS. But despite this, I have done more than any President in history in first 3 1/2 years!

I think it's fair to say he's quite upset.

And Oh... My... God... is he crying about it on Twitter.

8 salty tweets so far.

White House employees must be thinking, this will be one of those days again.

Trump Tweets

For the 1/100th time, the reason we show so many Cases, compared to other countries that haven’t done nearly as well as we have, is that our TESTING is much bigger and better. We have tested 40,000,000 people. If we did 20,000,000 instead, Cases would be half, etc. NOT REPORTED!

PRESIDENTIAL HARASSMENT!

I should add that enthusiasm and hatred of the opponent are equal factors. Hatred of Obama and Clinton was high in 2016, but hatred of Trump after 4 years will outweigh even that. Nobody needs to like Biden much, just tolerate.

He lost the one involving the NY DA. He won the congressional supena one, 7-2 ROBERTS, C. J., delivered the opinion of the Court, in which GINSBURG, BREYER, SOTOMAYOR, KAGAN, GORSUCH, and KAVANAUGH, JJ., joined THOMAS, J., and ALITO, J., filed dissenting opinions.

In short, no, the President is not immune to criminal investigations

The NY one, in favor of NY (6-3) - ROBERTS, C. J., delivered the opinion of the Court, in which GINSBURG, BREYER, SOTOMAYOR, and KAGAN, JJ., joined. KAVANAUGH, J., filed an opinion concurring in the judgment, in which GORSUCH, J., joined. THOMAS, J., and ALITO, J., filed dissenting opinions

In short, Congress is attempting to enforce laws, which is not their role.
