One thing I've noticed is that at that time the media was hard-pressed to call Trump a "liar", owing to some responsibility of respect to the office. Now they have no problem at all using that term because Trump has so destroyed that respectability and he has proven to be a liar over and over again.

What makes you think that they were complete suckers then?

You're assuming goals that are only poorly in evidence, by the look of it. For a related example, saying that CNN was suckered into giving Trump so much free airtime in 2016 is just wrong. They, like many other outlets, profited immensely as they amplified Trump - which is *exactly* what they were actually aiming to do. Trump got elected in the end? More profits for them!

The caravan stuff in the MSM should probably be treated as something much more like willing co-conspirators, albeit a bit more complicated. A bit more complicated because they tended to offer up more reasonable information on the topic, but the topic itself was given a lot more attention for problematic reasons.

I think what made them suckers was not only the amount of air-time Stubby McBonespurs was given, but in that so much of his stuff was not examined as critically as it should.

Instead of drawing some sort of false equivalence between Clinton and Trump, they should have dedicated 90% of the criticism to Trump. And whenever the Trumpanzees tried to point out something wrong with Clinton, dedicate twice the air time to talk about Trump has the same problems but only worse.

End result:
Trump still gets as much air time as before (thus giving them profits), but people might have looked at him with a little more rationality.

I think he believed it when he read it because it was from Breitbart. He doesn't bother to fact check anything. We know that. He retweeted that video of the guy yelling "White power" without checking it and then there was another similarly embarrassing one after that. He just read it and immediately assumed they were the 'lawless thug anarchists' that he thinks are pulling down all the Confederate statues.

I think that was actually in 2018, for the midterms. And a closer analogue to an "attempt to engineer a victory [by] mak[ing] a grand announcement close to the election" would be the way Trump then (in 2018, just before the midterms) announced, out of the blue and to the surprise of Republicans in Congress, a 10% tax cut for the middle class- a cut that was, of course, never heard from again.

Except that when there was fall in oil/petrol prices (which President Trump claims he fought tooth and nail to prevent) President Trump claimed that this was in effect a tax cut. :boggled: :boggled:

Tucker Carlson last night suggested Sen. Tammy Duckworth "hates America"

Duckworth served as a U.S. Army helicopter pilot and suffered severe combat wounds, which caused her to lose both of her legs and some mobility in her right arm. Despite her grievous injuries, she sought and obtained a medical waiver that allowed her to continue serving as a lieutenant colonel in the Illinois Army National Guard.
She is the recipient of the Purple heart, Air Medal and Army Commendation Medal.

Tucker Carlson should be fired.
