THANK YOU, Mr. President for your support.
You are the greatest President of my lifetime, and writing this book was truly the greatest honor of my life.
The transition back to greatness is ahead of schedule!

@FoxNews weekend afternoons is the worst! Getting into @CNN and MSDNC territory. Watch @OANN & @newsmax instead. Much better!

@FoxNews gladly puts up the phony suppression polls as soon as they come out. We are leading in the REAL polls because people are sick & tired of watching the Democrat run cities, in all cases, falling apart. Also, now 96% Approval Rating in the Republican Party. Another 2016!

Tomorrow they'll say something nice about him, and he'll be praising them again. The day after that they'll say something unfavorable and they'll be one of the worst networks again. Then they'll say something nice the day after that ...

New China Virus Cases up (because of massive testing), deaths are down, “low and steady”. The Fake News Media should report this and also, that new job numbers are setting records!

We should take a vote. What new lie will Trump come up with about the COVID 19 death rate?

1) He won't, he'll just keep lying and when the deaths go up he'll call it fake news.

2) He'll move to claiming it's temporary and will go down again and stick with that.

3) He'll move to claiming it's temporary and wait for people to forget he said the death rate was not going up.

4) On Planet X there is no COVID 19 and Trump's a genius.

5) (Added late) Distract the public with the statue controversy and hope no one notices the epidemic.

I'm going with 3 because I don't think he can pretend hospitals are not overflowing.

But that would require data that not only do police not collect, it requires data they refuse to collect.

In the case of research on gun violence, the funding from Uncle Sam specifically disallows and such research. I don't know in how many other areas that is true but I would guess that funding is raised as the stopper at the state and local level.

I just listened to ~ 2 minutes of Trump's speech at Mt. Rushmore. Gah!. He's staring at the teleprompter and reading the words in a dull, uninterested monotone. Gah! That doofus couldn't convince a kangaroo to hop on two legs.

The problem is that you are assuming a certain logic will apply to the lies Trump tells.

We really shouldn’t rule out two or more options happening simultaneously. He is not above saying that this rise is fake news and that this rise is temporary. He is perfectly happy saying both these things when answering a single question.

His usual method is DISTRACT!, DISTRACT!, DISTRACT! On and on, one fake crisis after another to distract from the previous one. So option (5) for me.

The problem is that eventually the whole recursive process collapses, and Trump ends up in serious trouble that "Daddy" has to bail him out of. Like collapsed business and casinos. It used to be his actually daddy buying chips to keep him afloat a bit longer. Nowadays it will be Daddy Vladdy riding to the rescue after Trump collapses the US economy and society.

There is a very clear logic to his lies. They are based on his pathologic narcissism.

He's particularly threatened right now. Things are not going his way. He's in a crisis and it's close to being a crisis that causes him to lose it.

But definitely it can be a combination of those options or something else.

6) No one ever mentions that every new death means one less case! Why doesn't the fake lying news ever mention that?!?

Knowing his motivation for lying (and I believe you are correct) does mean there is a clear logic to his lies. Much of President Trump’s lying is inherently illogical because he tells lies that are wildly inconsistent - even when he is speaking to a single audience.

But definitely it can be a combination of those options or something else.
Agreed.

I can see this ain’t your first trip to the rodeo.

In his Mt. Rushmore speech, the president said, “they want to silence us— but we will not be silenced.”

So the Silent Majority will not be silenced.

How ... paradoxical.

As I watched him, he once again reminded me of Mussolini with his jaw stuck forward and that look of smug satisfaction on his face as he basks in the adulation of the crowd.

Earlier in this thread, I suggested that one way President Trump and the GOP would attempt to engineer a victory would be to make a grand announcement close to the election that a vaccine had been found and that as a result, President Trump had personally saved the US from Coronavirus. This would give him a significant bump in popularity.

The announcement would then be shown to be utter rubbish, there was no vaccine or the announcement was hopelessly premature, but this news would be well after the election and President Trump would have secured a second term.

Seems like the ground work is being done for this:

Dr Hahn, a member of the White House coronavirus task force, was asked about the timeframe after President Trump suggested that a "vaccine solution" to the pandemic would be ready "long before the end of the year".

"I want to send our thanks to the scientists and researchers around the country, and even around the world, who are at the forefront of our historic effort to rapidly develop and deliver life-saving treatments and ultimately a vaccine," Mr Trump said during his Independence Day address at the White House.

The current head of the FDA isn't supporting President Trump's narrative but either he, or his stance will have to change soon.

This strategy wold require the US to develop the vaccine first - which would explain Trump's efforts to buy foreign drug research companies.

But despite the FDA dropping every precaution to allow for vaccine testing, it is far from certain that labs in the US will be across the finish line first.

But despite the FDA dropping every precaution to allow for vaccine testing, it is far from certain that labs in the US will be across the finish line first.

It only requires the announcement of a vaccine, not the actual developing of one.

If some other research group beats the US to the punch and announces the rollout of a vaccine before mid-October then President Trump simply makes the announcement based on that vaccine and not a US-produced one.

After all the facts don't matter, the announcement does.
