Trump Hiring Practices

There's one that predates this '18 thread but it amused me when I read about it and now can't recall enough detail to find it again.
Anyone remember the fresh out of Uni dude who, for some reason, kept getting tapped for larger and larger responsibilities in the Whitehouse. Something like four or seven major title, portfolio and of course salary bumps (ending around the $140K level IIRC) within just a year or less?
It came out because the kid finally said this is insane and I don't have the experience or skills for these positions (sound familiar?) and walked away.
Kudos to the guy for that, but just how incompetent is the WH HR staff?

:D

They are SPECTACULARLY incompetent. But that is because we measure them against industry HR standards.

The reality is their KRA's are not based on recruiting people to suit the positions.

Trump's HR people are there to ensure all the corporate donors, glad-handers, sycophants, grifters, hangers-on, unofficial faceless "family" and all the other scruple-free riff-raf that put Trump in place get their payoffs.

To the White House together with your $1m donation to the inauguration fund.

...if pushed for time just send the donation, the resume is superfluous.

Just send them information on Biden, or a conspiracy theory they can use to win the next election and you can replace Pence as Vice President on the Republican Ticket in 20/20.

If I publicly announce that I am investigating Biden (irrespective of if I actually am conducting such an investigation) what kind of job could I get? Or Maybe a grant of some kind?

I think DOE Sec't should be opening up soon... go for it. Not like you'd actually need to be familiar with the particulars or anything.

I understand a 30 or 40 thou office furniture slush fund budget goes with all new top hires this admin. Woot!

I'm surprised Joe Arpaio hasn't announced a task force to investigate this, I mean I know the Bidens are white but hasn't he been trying to get back into a position of power for a while?

I'm surprised Trump hasn't hired him for a Cabinet position.

Genuinely don't recall that. If anyone has any details, I'd like to hear about it.

I'd love to get the story again... if only to convince myself it wasn't a fever dream. :D
If I could reecall what general policy department(s) he was associated with it would help in a search. Alas :(

Okay, found one... a very long W. Post piece about the kid.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/inve...8-8c93-8cf33c21da8d_story.html?outputType=amp

I was wrong that he quit, the story came out and he was let go. Points off.
I don't have time ATM to read the whole article (or look up more concise ones) so if someone reads it all and cares to recap, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks. The story vaguely rings some bells, but honestly there's so much news the past few years that everything's a bit of a blur.

Yup. Patronage and nepotism are ages old, but Trump of course has to be the biglyest at it. It's such a gish gallop at the highest levels, I wonder how many less visable, mid-level examples are still there, plugging away, being exactly the kind of swamp Trump railed against.
Which other national policy departments have inexperienced twenty-somthings as high the number two or three position. Not exec asst., but actual Deputy COS.
Of course... then there's Jared. :(

From that story:
“This is D.C. It’s the town of social climbing, and climbing the political and business ladder,” he said. “So of course you would accept a role that might be above you.”
Seems most of the Trump administration, top to bottom, fit that description.

Another Judge from the Trump administration:

From: https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2019/12/sarah-pitlyk-trump-judge-ivf-abortion.html
The Senate confirmed Sarah Pitlyk to the federal judiciary on Wednesday by a 49–44 vote. Every Democrat presented voted in opposition; every Republican present except Sen. Susan Collins voted in her favor. Pitlyk’s nomination drew controversy for her extreme opposition to reproductive rights...

She's not above spreading conspiracy theories too:

She specializes in vilifying abortion providers and their patients, telling a federal appeals court that the “modern abortion industry continues to target ethnic minorities.”

Being opposed to abortion is bad enough (although I'm sure the thought of forcing women to carry unwanted children to term probably gives Republicans wet dreams). But even the republicans should be concerned about the following:

Outside of her contributions to these anti-ART, anti-abortion briefs, Pitlyk has minimal legal experience. As the ABA explained when awarding her a “Not Qualified” rating: Ms. Pitlyk has never tried a case as lead or co-counsel, whether civil or criminal. She has never examined a witness.

It's been a while since this thread was updated
Could it be that Trump has finally decided to only nominate competent people?

Nahhh.

From: https://www.cnn.com/2020/06/12/politics/pentagon-nominee-tata-trump-kfile/index.html
(CNN)The White House's nominee for a top position at the Pentagon has a history of making Islamophobic and inflammatory remarks against prominent Democratic politicians, including falsely calling former President*Barack Obama*a Muslim. Retired Army Brig. Gen. Anthony Tata, a frequent guest on Fox News and ardent defender of President*Donald Trump, was nominated to become the under secretary of defense for policy.

Another questionable Trump pick (all the more notable since it comes in the middle of some significant racial tension)...

From: SF Gate
President Donald Trump's nominee to be ambassador to Norway is facing demands that he abandon his pursuit of the diplomatic post after the unearthing of a 1994 court filing indicating his involvement in the production of a racist campaign flier against an African American politician...Mark Burkhalter helped create the flier that distorted and exaggerated the features of Gordon Joyner, a candidate for county commissioner in north-central Georgia. Joyner was pictured with some features darkened, a large Afro, enlarged eyebrows and a warped eye. Joyner accused the group involved of libel and sued, resulting in an out-of-court settlement, an apology signed by Burkhalter....
