Wow. I had no idea the USA was a battlefield in both those wars. Also, I would imagine vote by mail was very important to the soldiers oversees.
 
The worrisome thing is, launching a crusade against mail-in ballots only makes sense if there's also going to be a coordinated push to shut down polling places in liberal areas. See: that one Kentucky primary polling station serving 600,000 registered voters.

Sad part is even now if you'd put a gun to my head and made me choose between Trump losing or even a slim Democratic Majority without McConnell in the Senate... I'd probably choose the later.

See, he's one of them. In fact, he's just like them. He sneers at the experts, at the coastal elites, at the pinheads in academia, etc. Just like they do. It just feels so good to have a president who feels victimized just like we do. So cheering comes naturally.

Viewed in the context of a cohort who believe politicians don't care about them, who thinks whites as a class are discriminated against more than blacks and who see themselves losing the culture wars, it's no wonder they cheer an act that is seen as a great big FU in front of the whole world.

Exactly. These people think that a billionaire POTUS, raised in luxury from the day he was born, is really just like them. He thinks the way they do. But the irony is, he doesn't. He has nothing but disdain for them. The only people Trump truly admires and identifies with are authoritarians just like himself such as Putin and Bolsonaro .

And I doubt Trump Jr or Bannon will give us a 30 year jumpstart on rocket technology over the Soviets. Wernher von Braun and Kurt Debus they are not.

A "Useful Evil" is a morally complicated idea to put it mildly, but for it to even be worth it to worry about the moral conundrum the evil has to actually be useful.

I"m watching Tim Murtaugh, Trump's campaign communications Director, on CNN trying to defend what Trump said during the rally, the number of attendees, etc. The amount of lies and spin coming from him is hysterical. It's amusing watching him squirm when he gets called out by Kate Balduon.

A small correction. "... authoritarians like he imagines himself to be, such as Putin and Bolsonaro." Politically, he's the little kid hanging out with the older kids and trying to impress them and make them like him, while they take advantage of him and mock him behind his back.
 
Trump calls the election "RIGGED!" Democrats insist, "No, it's perfectly fair," then Trump does shady stuff and wins. "You guys said it was fair."
