Graham is pathetic. I think deep down he known that Trump is evil and a total idiot, but supports him because of Graham's ultra conservative base.

REALLY? :D Pre-election, Graham called Trump a 'kook' and said he was unfit for office. He had nothing good to say about him. Amazing how Trump must have changed for Graham to be such an arselicker now, heh?

All any of the GOP Congress members care about is getting re-elected. The only one who left was Flake.

More idiot statements by Trump during his speech at a conservative, evangelical, mostly white church in Dallas today:
President Trump praised the use of tear gas and other force to disperse Minneapolis protesters, calling it a “beautiful scene” and describing the National Guard’s actions “like a knife cutting butter.” “I’ll never forget. You saw the scene on that road … they were lined up. Man, they just walked straight. And yes, there was some tear gas and probably some other things. And the crowd dispersed and they went through. By the end of that evening, and it was a short evening, everything was fine.”

Trump did not mention Floyd by name in his remarks but suggested the work of confronting bigotry and prejudice will “go quickly and it’ll go very easily.
“But we’ll make no progress and heal no wounds by falsely labeling tens of millions of decent Americans as racist or bigots,” the president said.

He defended police officers and slammed calls to “defund” them, saying it means people want to get rid of law enforcement. Most advocates use the term to mean the reallocation of police budgets to social services including housing and education.
“We have to respect our police. We have to take care of our police. They’re protecting us. And if they’re allowed to do their job, they’ll do a great job,” Trump said. “And you always have a bad apple. No matter where you go, you have bad apples and there not too many of them.”
WAPO

He is truly nuts. Whacko. Brain fried.

Lindsey Graham backed up Gen. Milley's apology for appearing in Trump's church photo op:

Can we expect a Trump Tweet calling Graham a 'loser' or some other disparaging name?

For the love of Mike. We all know he's gay. His constituents know he's gay. Every waiter in Dupont Circle knows he's gay. Every staffer, page and intern in the Senate knows he's gay. The only person who doesn't know that everyone else knows he's gay is Graham. Would he just give his constituents enough credit to think that enough of them would back him for having the courage of his convictions and not care what ink well he dips his pen in to re-elect him? Graham needs to stop letting Trump blackmail him over something everyone already knows and hasn't cared about for years. When McCain was alive, he used to be great.

You greatly underestimate the obliviousness of a certain segment of the population. My mom and her side of the family are all from South Carolina. They all adore Graham, and they'd all be shocked and amazed to hear a rumor that he's not straight.

My mother was very surprised to find out about Liberace. And George Michael. She still doesn't believe it about Ricky Martin.

I get what you're saying but It's 2020. For every one of your mothers, he'd gain an unaffiliated voter who has moved past all this. Besides, at his age, in politics, it's better to go down fighting and secure your legacy than win and be remembered as a toady.

If Trump has anything on Graham it's probably about more than being gay. Underage escorts maybe.

A Republican congressman came out as gay back in the 1990s and the reaction was ... well, there wasn't one.

According to rumor, he was on the verge of being "outed." Maybe Graham is too and he doesn't care. I'd like to think so, but that's because I have some faint residual hope, probably misplaced, that he'll turn out to be a decent human being after all.

Have you been to South Carolina? I lived there for years, as well as having half my family from there. There are literally millions of people like my mother there. And being old, they all vote, every time.

The older people are the more likely they will vote. This is true everywhere.

I have to agree. Remember the video of the woman who voted for Buttigieg in the primary but when told he was gay, she asked if she could change her vote? She said "We can't have someone like that in the White House!"

What kind of BS is this!? Next you'll try to claim that Rock Hudson, Raymond Burr and Jim Nabors were gay!

Question...

Isn't advertising for a private business something that has material financial value?

If so: didn't the President, by publishing a commercial for his businesses on what's accepted to be a government communication, receive an emolument?
That's getting old now. He's been doing it so long no one cares anymore.

<snip>

But, this is obviously a sensitive subject, and I shall not touch it again.
Wrong lesson learned. No matter how sensitive the subject, if you can bring your opinions and facts to the table, you should. In the USA after a mass shooting, the gun nuts say now is not the time to discuss guns - show some respect to the victims. At other times, there are apparently other more important topics.

It's a ruse to avoid the hard questions. Don't fall for it.

Speaking of the Confederacy and racists, I hadn't seen this Lincoln Project ad before today. Confederate flag = flag of losers and racists, and lots of photos of Trump fans with that very flag. I think it's powerful.

Background music drowns out the dialogue. Other than that, good work.

Funny... no mass shootings of note recently. Perhaps they think now is the time to discuss guns?

Trump Retweeted

The White House
@WhiteHouse
"We have to work together to confront bigotry and prejudice wherever they appear. But we'll make no progress and heal no wounds by falsely labeling tens of millions of decent Americans as racist."

"We're working to finalize an Executive Order that will encourage police departments nationwide to meet the most current professional standards for the use of force, including tactics for de-escalation."

Brilliant! Just brilliant. Why didn't anyone think of *encouraging* police departments to behave better before now?

In 2015 Graham predicted that nominating Trump would mean the end of the Republican party. Then he turned into just another boot-licker. Sad.

He actually might be right about that. The GOP has to figure out what to do with Trumpers if they want to remain advocates of conservatism.
