In an outfit she put on in the hopes that Trump and male reporters won't go so hard on her...

Or to audition for Fox, more like.

I am a big fan of Drew Brees. I think he’s truly one of the greatest quarterbacks, but he should not have taken back his original stance on honoring our magnificent American Flag. OLD GLORY is to be revered, cherished, and flown high...

...We should be standing up straight and tall, ideally with a salute, or a hand on heart. There are other things you can protest, but not our Great American Flag - NO KNEELING!

George Conway's parting paragraph in his WaPo column:

"We remain governed by a soulless man with a broken mind. The damage will continue, and it won’t stop until voters end it. Come November, it will be up to the eligible human population of this country to look to their souls, their consciences, their humanity — and to cast their votes for one of their own."

"You have to be quiet because I have to sign this bill and it's really difficult."

Did you mean Biff Tannen? I think the similarities there are more than coincidental.

Biff works with the McFly reference and the similarities in BTTF2 were not coincidental.
That character was based on Trump. But Biff only becomes Mayor of Hill Valley.

Buzz Windrip was the main character in Sinclair Lewis's "It can't happen here" Buzz was a crude character and many thought Buzz was based on Huey Long. Buzz promotes economic reforms and a return to traditional values and after he becomes President he implements authoritarian rule.

The biggest issue post Trump may be the way he's shown that many of the 'rules' governing the conduct of the President were nothing more than traditions and gentlemen's agreements that proved unenforceable in the face of a stubborn White House. The checks and balances that were supposed to limit the power of the Executive Branch seem to have been broken by a hyperpartisanship on the part of the Republicans and it may be impossible to repair them, leaving the door open for a competent authoritarian down the line.

It is not going to be possible to simply to rescind the tax cuts for the ultra wealthy with the stroke of a pen that continues to loot the treasury, or fix the broken economy that has resulted. The insane debt that will never be able to be repaid. This is the cycle that the Republicans play into - let’s break the economy and give it away to our owners and donors and when we lose power blame the others for making us pay the piper.

It won’t be possible to undo the 187 and counting wealthy-friendly and women-and-minority hostle lifetime appointments to the federal judiciary everywhere. Or the two or more Supreme Court seats that he filled with his turds.

Biden (even if he wants to) will not be able to undo the havoc that these rich and powerful children have levied on the environment or take back these crucial years to help stem climate change.

He will not be able to restore the Diplomatic Corps or Department of State for a generation. Or fix the damaged psyches of migrant children separated from their families and locked in cages. He won’t be able to keep assurances from Iran developing nuclear weapons or intensified Russian domination over Ukraine or reasserting the support of the Kurdish people.

On the world stage, Trumpjsm has unfortunately authenticated the reality of The Ugly American. How long will it take to rebuild trust?

It's the 76th anniversary of D-Day and I'm trying to imagine Trump as president during WWII, ignoring generals, overruling them, firing them . . .
And saying there were good people on both sides.

In the run up to WW2 I know he'd be jacking it over a certain one bollocked Charlie Chaplin lookalike as well.

With that and the Derek Chauvin stuff above it is becoming increasingly clear that President Trump is correct; voter fraud is rampant in the US. :D

They would know about their own actions, after all.

Is anyone else concerned that all of these protests are going to provoke a second outbreak of covid?

Also, the people packing the streets in Maine yesterday to welcome The Comb-Over in Chief to town cannot be good for containment either.

It's like we suddenly forgot there was a pandemic going on.

Most people seem to be. With that said, there's Horatius' point and then there's also the point that re-opening done poorly is fairly certain to be a much larger concern.

I'm afraid that Biden, assuming he wins in November, is going to have to spend at least the first year of his administration undoing all the damage that Trump has done.

Optimistic is what I would call that.

Nah, one single executive order that says “all EOs by he who shall not be named are rescinded and we promise to never speak of it again”.

Which wouldn't do much to deal with much of the damage that the Trump Administration has done, even on the direct policy front.

And....

This. To expand a little more, the Republican Party has laid bare for all to see that our institutions require people of principle to uphold them and keep things running well and that the Republican Party has interest in intentionally sabotaging our institutions.

We're pretty much now left with horrible options like hoping that they will just stop with their sabotage magically and going overboard in legislating the specifics of how people are to do their job.

How badly do I want to burn a flag right now?

I've heard of the source but was unfamiliar with the character's name.

Wouldn't the larger disrespect to the Stars and Stripes be embracing the Confederate flag?
Not seeing a lot of pushback on that issue coming from the White House. Not that I expect any of course.

Wow, that's... wow. I've worked at a 4H farm that offered therapy riding to the mentally challenged and people with Downs, serious autism, etc. and he actually reminded me of one of them there. Or a child pretending to be an adult.

I've been noticing this more and more with the wannabe Führer. He increasingly reminds me (and others) of a child with special needs. And anger management issues.
I don't think he's ever really had to deal with frustration before, by the way he acts anyway.

Wow! 96% Approval Rating in the Republican Party (and I believe this was before the “GREAT” Jobs Numbers yesterday). Thank you!

LAW & ORDER!

@MayorBowser is grossly incompetent, and in no way qualified to be running an important city like Washington, D.C. If the great men and women of the National Guard didn’t step forward, she would have looked no better than her counterpart Mayor in Minneapolis!

Jesus, how many times is he going to brag about that one poll result? It's like Al Bundy always going on about his high school football record.

Those “GREAT” Jobs Numbers yesterday" aren't as good as he is claiming as the BLS 'miscalculated' some groups including furloughed workers, those who have dropped out of the workforce ( ~6 million), and part time workers who can't find full-time work. The U-6 metric, which includes these people, puts the more realistic unemployment rate at 21.2%.

But you won't hear this from Trump or on FOX News or from the GOP. No, they're going with this campaign ad hyping this crap:
