Cont: The Trump Presidency: Part 22

We warned people about Trump. But his apologists on this forum hand waved away Trump's bent toward authoritarianism. They made excuses about his lies. Trump is a POS. He's a bully. He's despicable in every way imaginable. Whoever warned us that "when fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross" must have been Marty McFly. Trump is the embodiment of Buzz Windrop.

Wake up America! Before it is too late.

It's the 76th anniversary of D-Day and I'm trying to imagine Trump as president during WWII, ignoring generals, overruling them, firing them . . .

There's no such thing as a parody of a troll, especially if you never break character.
He does break character, especially lately. I take it as worrisome sign of state of USA.

I'm afraid that Biden, assuming he wins in November, is going to have to spend at least the first year of his administration undoing all the damage that Trump has done.

Only one? Eight years is not enough. This is one of reasons why I think you guys are screwed - in sense that it can't be resolved peacefully. Differences runs too deep and are irreversible. Only hope we all can have is that authoritarian corporate fascism will be yet again defeated.

Greatest....wartime......President.......ever.....

His experience fighting his own personal 'Nam in the New York nightclubs of the 1980s has left him uniquely qualified to lead his country in a world war.....

Trump is blatantly racist, and he is also contemptuous of women. Many of Trump's clashes with the media have involved female reporters asking questions he didn't like.

Well, obviously, some media deliberately send female reporters, preferably colored, to ask Trump questions he doesn't like. I don't blame them, it's their jobs. Just don't try to make statistics out of it.

Hans

Hitler would have loved him.

Hans

ETA: And no, Hitler didn't work like that. To a certain level he gave his generals a very wide slack to do what produced results.

Did you mean Biff Tannen? I think the similarities there are more than coincidental.

That is the one thing good to come out of everything Trump does is by simple declarative fiat, it can be undone just as quick.

We just need to keep from having to name another SCOTUS judge.

It is not going to be possible to simply to rescind the tax cuts for the ultra wealthy with the stroke of a pen that continues to loot the treasury, or fix the broken economy that has resulted. The insane debt that will never be able to be repaid. This is the cycle that the Republicans play into - let’s break the economy and give it away to our owners and donors and when we lose power blame the others for making us pay the piper.

It won’t be possible to undo the 187 and counting wealthy-friendly and women-and-minority hostle lifetime appointments to the federal judiciary everywhere. Or the two or more Supreme Court seats that he filled with his turds.

Biden (even if he wants to) will not be able to undo the havoc that these rich and powerful children have levied on the environment or take back these crucial years to help stem climate change.

He will not be able to restore the Diplomatic Corps or Department of State for a generation. Or fix the damaged psyches of migrant children separated from their families and locked in cages. He won’t be able to keep assurances from Iran developing nuclear weapons or intensified Russian domination over Ukraine or reasserting the support of the Kurdish people.

Even more than that, I think he resents every millisecond someone else is talking in his presence. I'm certain that the advisors he has managed to keep for more than 6 months are the ones who say little in his presence other than "Absolutely, Mr. President."

Or alternatively “Up to a point, Mr. President.”

It was the guy on the other side who did that. ;)

Normally I don't write things like this but a) it's true and b) she deserves it. And then some. At the Washington church photo op, does Kayleigh look downright skanky or what? :(

I think it is McEnany, not Ivanka.

Nah, one single executive order that says “all EOs by he who shall not be named are rescinded and we promise to never speak of it again”.
I don't think its quite as easy as that.

First of all, some EOs might actually have some value to them. Granted, many of them were complete and total garbage (Muslim ban for example), but not all of them were. (For example, there are executive orders changing pay rates.)

Secondly, getting rid of the bad ones may require more thought than just "poof, they're gone". For example, the executive orders surrounding Iranian sanctions... ideally they should go back to the deal arranged by Obama, but they would probably have to negotiate with Iran to ensure both sides would be satisfied with the result.

Even if he wins and Dems hold the House and take the Senate, the damage can't be undone in one year. We would probably need at least a decade of Democratic control to get the job done.

I couldn't decide. The caption for the news photos I found didn't say, they just all mentioned Ivanka being there. But you're right. Kayleigh's in the same outfit in the image below.
