Is anyone else concerned that all of these protests are going to provoke a second outbreak of covid?

Also, the people packing the streets in Maine yesterday to welcome The Comb-Over in Chief to town cannot be good for containment either.

It's like we suddenly forgot there was a pandemic going on.

Actually, quite a few people are concerned about exactly this.

But, unlike the stupid haircut protests, this is a cause that's actually important enough to take a risk over.

I saw an analogy online: Imagine there's a swarm of wasps near your house. You decide that it's a good idea to stay inside until the swarm goes away. Then, you see a person outside being attacked by a bear. It's not unreasonable to decide to go outside and try to save the person from the bear, even if the wasps are still a threat.

Plus, lots of the people at the protests are still wearing masks, which limits the potential danger.

Of course. That is a controlled room (probably not a clean-room) facility, and Trump and his entourage stomp through in out-door shoes, outside clothes, and without masks or hair-covers. Obviously they will have to scrap all products on the line during the time.

I expect about the middle of this week we'll get a very harsh reminder that there's still a pandemic.

There are two Maines. One is Southern and Coastal Maine, which is very blue. The other is Trump Country Maine. You don't have to go too far north or west of Portland to be in Trump Country Maine. It's also a very evangelical, Bible Belt part of Maine. I've been up there many times, and there's lots of evangelical churches and Christian radio stations.

Guilford is deep in the Trump Country part of Maine.

He talks about why riot gear is unnecessary before bragging that local police and USSS personnel did not wear riot gear in a town of less than 1800 people in central Maine.

Has there ever been a president in the modern era that knows less about the presidency and less about how the real world works?

There's two Americas. The red state/blue state idea is a false and dangerous narrative.

Texas isn't Red, California isn't Blue. Rural Texas is Red, Urban Texas is Blue, Rural California is Red, Urban California is Blue.

A little more blowback over Trump's recent actions over racial violence:

A Kansas technical school cancelled plans for Ivanka Trump to give a virtual commencement speech to graduates because of criticism of U.S. President Donald Trump's response to protests over the death of George Floyd.

My question is not why the speech was cancelled.... my question is why was Ivanka Trump selected to give a speech in the first place. They ended up selecting a person who had no real connection with the state or university, and who's main claim to fame is that her racist con-artist father wants to have sex with her.

Yes, Kansas is more 'Trump friendly' than states like California and New York. But these are graduating students... a demographic that is probably less favorable to Trump than your average citizen. Could you imagine being a graduate (being an intelligent, rational, and enlightened person), and having some of the last words you hear from the university coming from one of the Trump spawn.

(The republicans are trying to suggest this is a "free speech" issue... but since it is a graduation ceremony and not a political debate, and since there would be no opportunity for rebuttal, I don't think the issue of free speech applies here.... especially since the individual involved is actually trying to suppress free speech.)
