I just wish someone had slipped a Koran into her purse. That would have been hysterical.
He just would have held it upside-down (or backwards, take your pick.)

I agree with everything you said that I highlighted, it's this bit i'm not so sure about
People who blindly believe, or are reassured by something that an important figure has said, are part of the problem. It's why mainstream media has always been so polarizing. I'm sure it has something to do with it.
EDIT:
forgot to mention this, but I ain't one of them.

President engages in "useful hyperbole" by claiming he rescued historically black colleges, but his administration has made good on some of its promise to support the sector
The bill restores $255 million in annual funding that lapsed Sept. 30 after Congress failed to renew it. Facing an end to the funding, some schools had started planning for deep cuts, with some telling staff their jobs or programs would be eliminated.
But lawmakers in the Senate recently reached a bipartisan deal that saved the funding. Their compromise added an amendment that will simplify the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, the form that college students fill out to determine their eligibility for financial aid.
Both sides agreed to compromise by adding the FAFSA simplification, which Alexander has been seeking for years. The House and Senate both voted to approve final changes to the bill Dec. 10. It was applauded as a rare instance of cooperation in a Congress that has remained deeply divided over many issues.
These attempts to retroactively deny fully-documented reality by inventing transparent lies are fascinating. Why do they bother? Their followers didn’t believe reality the first time through and everyone else see the retrofits as embarrassing lies. Trump didn’t shelter in the bunker; he was only inspecting it... several times? Come on.
It’s bad enough to say your dog ate your homework. It’s just infinitely stupid to claim your unicorn did.

Well Obama is doing his virtual townhall now so expect a screaming fit from Trump on twitter shortly.
https://taskandpurpose.com/news/mattis-trump-statementFormer Defense Secretary James Mattis has released a statement condemning President Donald Trump, marking the first time the former administration official has spoken out publicly against the president after he resigned in protest in Dec. 2018.
"Donald Trump is the first president in my lifetime who does not try to unite the American people—does not even pretend to try," Mattis wrote. "Instead he tries to divide us. We are witnessing the consequences of three years of this deliberate effort. We are witnessing the consequences of three years without mature leadership. We can unite without him, drawing on the strengths inherent in our civil society."
"Today I visited a church and was photographed with the Christian Holy Book. The Christians' Holy Book is actually called the Q'uran. Lots of people don't know that!"I just wish someone had slipped a Koran into her purse. That would have been hysterical.
James Mattis Denounces President Trump, Describes Him as a Threat to the Constitution
In an extraordinary condemnation, the former defense secretary backs protesters and says the president is trying to turn Americans against one another.
James Mattis, the esteemed Marine general who resigned as secretary of defense in December 2018 to protest Donald Trump’s Syria policy, has, ever since, kept studiously silent about Trump’s performance as president. But he has now broken his silence, writing an extraordinary broadside in which he denounces the president for dividing the nation, and accuses him of ordering the U.S. military to violate the constitutional rights of American citizens.
“Donald Trump is the first president in my lifetime who does not try to unite the American people—does not even pretend to try. Instead, he tries to divide us,” Mattis writes. “We are witnessing the consequences of three years of this deliberate effort. We are witnessing the consequences of three years without mature leadership. We can unite without him, drawing on the strengths inherent in our civil society. This will not be easy, as the past few days have shown, but we owe it to our fellow citizens; to past generations that bled to defend our promise; and to our children.”
He goes on to implicitly criticize the current secretary of defense, Mark Esper, and other senior officials as well. “We must reject any thinking of our cities as a ‘battlespace’ that our uniformed military is called upon to ‘dominate.’ At home, we should use our military only when requested to do so, on very rare occasions, by state governors. Militarizing our response, as we witnessed in Washington, D.C., sets up a conflict—a false conflict—between the military and civilian society. It erodes the moral ground that ensures a trusted bond between men and women in uniform and the society they are sworn to protect, and of which they themselves are a part. Keeping public order rests with civilian state and local leaders who best understand their communities and are answerable to them.
"Today I visited a church and was photographed with the Christian Holy Book. The Christians' Holy Book is actually called the Q'uran. Lots of people don't know that!"
People say to me,"Sir, you know more about the Holy Book than theologians." I don't know who Theo Logians is, but he must know a lot!
"People are saying to me all the time that I have a messiah complex, can you believe it, a messiah complex. And you know what they're right, it's very complex actually, the most complex.""They ask me how I know so much about this theologian stuff. Maybe I have a natural ability, Maybe I should have done that instead of running for president."
I should check if I'm just south enough to get included in Jefferson*. I'd have to roll down a bit if not.If Trump is reelected, every week will be like the last week. The US will go into the abyss, and might not ever survive as a nation. I think the whole "Bluexit" option will become a reality.

My RV wouldn't fit in with the ethos of Ecotopia... but I can't say I'd be all that put out by the idea of a West Coast secession.
*That might be a bad reference. Not sure of the politics there... they could be just as racist as the original Oregon founders.![]()
