Give it a rest! Big Daddy is no coward! He went to the bunker for an "inspection".

<laughing dogs>

According to The Don's BBC link, Trump made several trips to the bunker to inspect it. The man is weak-minded and fearful, so totally obsessed with his image that he'll make up a playground pretend story in a hope that his weak-minded supporters will buy it.

Yeah, I wonder as well. What I think will happen is Trump will make Esper do some sort of fawning walk-back statement/apology in which Esper will describe his boss as just the sort of strong-willed hero to lead us through this crisis, as opposed to those weakllng, flower children Democrat Governors and Mayors who just let Antifa and Unclefa traipse through their cities unimpeded.

Those baggy suit pants remind me of the NBA guys from The Last Dance. Is it 1994? It's so weird that he's surrounded by models and can't wear a suit that is tailored for this millennium.

Bah he is proud of wearying only off the rack suits. He has no tailor

but the problem is, yeah, enough are stupid enough to fall for it.

Disagree.

Just look at our local deplorables. They know very well Trump lies, and lies way, way more than average politician. No one is falling for that. Some people of doubtful morality with authoritarian tendencies simply don't mind.

This is also why I found Ziggurat vs Craig4 spat highly amusing.

For me, the worst thing about the events of the past few days is that right now this country needs leadership and trump can't supply it. In times like this, most American presidents have gone on the air in primetime to address the nation and try and calm the waters and reassure the American people. (A good example would be the statement George W. Bush released the other day.)

Instead, trump has only offered tweets and they're all of a hyper-partisan nature. He's not trying to reassure the American people. He's using this situation to campaign for his reelection. Expressing himself in a very crude and obnoxious way. It truly is a nightmare.

I watched him 'lead' the USFL football league into oblivion. I'm really worried about what lies ahead. :(

Who are these sheep that need words from a daddy figure because they have a case of sad?

Real voter fraud -- by Trump:
President Trump originally tried to register to vote in Florida while claiming his “legal residence” was in another part of the country — Washington, D.C. — according to Florida elections records.

The September 2019 registration application listed Trump’s legal residence as 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, the location of the White House. That created a potential problem for Trump: Florida law requires voters to be legal residents of the state. A month later, Trump resubmitted his application to use a Florida address and in March he voted by mail in Florida’s Republican primary.

This is just more devious stupidity. Most presidents continue to be legal residents of wherever they came from. Obama had a house in Chicago, Bush had a ranch in Texas, etc. It's incomprehensible that Trump could think this is okay.

However Trump and his aides try to spin it, Trump clearly now recognizes that his photo op at the church was a big public relations error. Sure the usual supporters compare it to Christ entering Jerusalem, but more broadly it revealed him to be a little, angry man awkwardly trying to exploit religion without knowing how to show any respect for it.

The fervent supporters interpreting this photo op as the second coming of the messiah were already irreversibly wedded to Trump; the photo op gained Trump nothing more with this group. But among the sane members of society, particularly the religious moderates, it must have eaten at any positive vibes they felt toward him. I hope it leaves a sour enough taste in their mouths to cause them to carefully question just what kind of man is Trump and if he is on their side or not.

Also clearly someone in the White House will have to be the target of Trump’s anger as a result of this misguided venture. Ivanka may have come up with the idea, or supported Donald in doing so. Will she receive a tongue lashing, or will a different scapegoat be named and fired?

I don’t know if this is pay walled but it is a good article about the events involved:

Sounds like straw men.

How so?

In times like this, most American presidents have gone on the air in primetime to address the nation and try and calm the waters and reassure the American people.

Now, I have utter disdain for people that benefit from being reassured by an elected leader. I disparaged these people. But I don't think I'm saying they are something other than people reassured by a presidential address

Defense Secretary Esper apparently has guts and a sense of morality as to the use of USA military against USA citizens! Congratulations to him and all my respect! Clearly he must recognize this can easily terminate his career - it took bravery.

Apparently he was already on the outs with Trump for not being adequately fawning. One example was that Esper once, when asked in an interview what it was like to work with Trump, said that it was like working for any boss, one adjusts. Apparently Trump was furious that Esper didn’t state that it was like working for God, but only better.

Is this any worse than the messianism around Bush? With Trump, it's obviously a con. I mean, you'd have to be a complete idiot to believe he's religious in any way. With Bush, people were talking about religious wars and the clash of civilizations. He, too, enjoyed unquestioned support. Wikipedia:

"Bush has enjoyed strong support among Republicans and Americans holding conservative views, and for the 2004 election, 95–98% of the Republican electorate approved of and voted for Bush, a figure exceeding the approval of Ronald Reagan."

Bush's stupidity infuriated members on these boards -- so much so that many Republicans left or changed. Amusingly, he's now regarded by some Republicans as a RINO.

Trump's dumber, less sincere, more vulgar, but it's a lot of the same ol' nonsense. In terms of photo-ops, Bush took a jet to an aircraft carrier, and wore a codpiece. As far as I recall, they spent a day turning the USS Mission Accomplished so he'd have the right backdrop for his speech. Now THAT'S a crazy-ass photo-op.

These are the REAL enemies of the U.S., the evangelists! They want to destroy the country and kill many of its people, and replace it with their "earthly kingdom."

AKA Republic Of Giliead

The City of Columbia in "Bioshock Infinate" also comes to mind.
