I happened to catch Mayor Frey on Maddow a couple nights ago. Smart, articulate, dedicated, empathetic.

No wonder Trump doesn’t like him.

Well, who said they would stand by him if he shot someone? That was a certain Donald Trump, as I recall. I think it really would depend quite a bit on who he shot and under what circumstances.

Well, that's the point: If the loud bully gets too complicated, if he shies away from confrontations with the press, if he .... basically .... stops being fun, quite a lot of them may well start to lose interest.

I’m not seeing it all. Of course I could be wrong. Let’s watch and see if not having confrontations with reporters has any effect at all on his 44% approval rating.

I’m of the opinion that investing 4 years of one’s life supporting a loud-mouthed con-man is a very big sunk cost. So big that it would take something gigantic to make those folks turn away from him.

And even if avoiding reporters started to hurt him, President Trump would unhesitatingly jump right back into yelling at reporters.

Trump is scared ******** by the protests in front of the White House. He feels the need to compliment the Secret Service, because if they don't like him enough, the mob will undoubtedly drag him off and tar&feather him - he is certain of that.

1D chess is all he's capable of. He's seriously linear.

Sorry, but ... rubbish. What matters is that he performs for his audience. The man is, basically, a comedian.

Oh, if you ask them if they support Donald Trump, it will be a long time before they answer "Donald who?", but it will not be nearly as long before they "forget" to show up and vote for him.

It would for you and me, but I don't think it would for many of his supporters. They would be ready to go for some other fad.

Assuming more rationality than he has ever shown to date.

OK, I may be overly optimistic, but the alternative is almost too much to contemplate. Although, in my part of the planet, the worst things of it will not be felt too much.

Donald Trump will stop these THUGS with the military's unlimited power. Finally, the race war I was promised. I didn't think it would happen on top of a pandemic, but it's sweeps.
