Cont: The Trump Presidency: Part 22

Trying to force Twitter to stop their harmful act by mirroring Trump's harmful act is not noble in my mind.

May so but since Twitter refuses to enforce their own policy it should not come as a surprise that some will get down and dirty to force the issue.

Trump's threats against Twitter are unlikely to go anywhere other than by the wayside:
A ruling that emerged from a powerful federal appeals court in Washington on Wednesday morning is strong evidence that the courts are unlikely to be receptive to President Donald Trump’s claims that he and his political supporters are being silenced by social media platforms like Twitter.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit resoundingly rejected a lawsuit the conservative legal organization Freedom Watch and right-wing provocateur Laura Loomer filed in 2018 against four major technology companies: Google, Facebook, Twitter, and Apple.
Facebook, Twitter and other platforms have banned Loomer, citing anti-Muslim statements.

The unanimous court decision from a three-judge panel runs to only four pages, but is dismissive of a wide range of legal claims some conservatives and liberals have leveled at social media firms in recent months.

The appeals court judges said that despite the companies’ power, they cannot violate the First Amendment because it only regulates governments, not the private sector.
“Freedom Watch’s First Amendment claim fails because it does not adequately allege that the Platforms can violate the First Amendment. In general, the First Amendment ‘prohibits only governmental abridgment of speech,'” the court said.

“Freedom Watch contends that, because the Platforms provide an important forum for speech, they are engaged in state action. But…‘a private entity who provides a forum for speech is not transformed by that fact alone into a state actor….’ Freedom Watch fails to point to additional facts indicating that these Platforms are engaged in state action and thus fails to state a viable First Amendment claim,” the judges added.

Just read in Norwegian media that Trump has announced he will sign an exexutice order tomorrow "regarding social media".

Remember when Trump said we wouldn't reach 100,000 deaths from Covid 19? Wrong again, Stable Genius.
"You have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero," he said Feb. 26 at a coronavirus task force briefing.

This should be use in Biden campaign ads.

Trump Tweets

New papers make CLEAR that the Obama Administration SPIED, in an unprecedented manner, on the Trump Campaign and beyond, and even on the United States Senate. Nobody would ever have believed that this level of illegality and corruption would be taking place in our beautiful USA!
What new papers, dunderhead?

We keep hearing about all this new info coming out and newly declassified papers but we never see any of it. Maybe he'll release them along with his forthcoming tax returns?

I posted upthread how Trump reminds me of a prior lying, immoral demagogue, Joseph McCarthy. McCathy always claimed to have the proof of his allegations on paper. In fact he often held those very papers up in his hand as he made his accusations. Oddly the contents of those papers, the proof, never quite made it to the light of day...

They are a majority of whites. White non-Hispanics make up about 62% of the US population. If Trump's base is 40%, and if we can assume that his base is almost entirely white, then about 64% of white Americans are Trump supporters. Almost 2/3.

Think about that the next time you're out shopping. Almost 2/3 of the white people you see are Trump supporters. Of course, this depends on where you are, YMMV.

Indeed!

I didn't mean to say the were a minority of Whites, but that the are a White minority.

Trump has pulled that crap, too. No one was allowed to look at them up close.

A close up shows that none of the files were labeled and no writing appeared to be on the papers that could be seen.

He's also infamous for telling reporters he'll present evidence of something later then never does.

Exactly. It's his fall-back lie. Along with "This will happen, just you wait."

Will that be before or after he releases “the shocking evidence” that his personally-hired investigators discovered in 2014 related to President Obama’s birth?

ETA

Shhh!!!! quiet! Don't tell him how to escape.

If we're lucky, he'll stay in there and suffocate.

How would one suffocate in a place large enough to have its own weather patterns?

Being reported, such as this brief report by Pavolic Today, an independent news website::
Just the day after Twitter placed a fact checkmark on President Trump's vote-by-mail tweets calling them "potentially misleading", the White House made it clear that it will respond with some sort of measures and that "some big action is coming". Trump tweeted last night that Twitter "is now interfering in the 2020 Presidential Election. They are saying my statement on Mail-In Ballots, which will lead to massive corruption and fraud, is incorrect, based on fact-checking by Fake News CNN and the Amazon Washington Post.... and "stifling FREE SPEECH. I, as President, will not allow it to happen!", he added. Pavolic Today

Man he sure is thin-skinned. Everybody got plenty of popcorn? ;)

Naturally Mark Zuckerberg weighs in... Against Twitter.
"I just believe strongly that Facebook shouldn't be the arbiter of truth of everything that people say online," he added. "Private companies probably shouldn't be, especially these platform companies, shouldn't be in the position of doing that." Fox News report
He did add, however:
I think a government choosing to to censor a platform because they're worried about censorship doesn't exactly strike me as the the right reflex there."

Fox News also reported:
Twitter's "Head of Site Integrity" Yoel Roth boasts on his LinkedIn that he is in charge of "developing and enforcing Twitter’s rules," like the one that led Twitter to slap a new "misleading" warning label on two of President Trump's tweets concerning nationwide mail-in balloting on Tuesday. However, Roth's own barrage of anti-Trump, politically charged tweets seemingly calls into question whether he should be creating guidelines for the president and other Twitter users, especially when Twitter is under fire for its alleged left-wing bias. Fox News link

In case you haven't seen it, below are the 'tweets' that started all of this. The writing in blue is what has trump foaming at the mouth.

No, that's a side effect of hydroxychloroquine.

Which France has now banned as a treatment for Covid 19.
The French health ministry is banning the use of hydroxychloroquine as a cure for coronavirus, according to a decree published Wednesday morning.
"Whether [in doctors offices] in the cities or in the hospital, this ... should not be prescribed for patients with COVID-19," the ministry said in a statement.

On Tuesday, the country’s public health agency advised against using hydroxychloroquine outside of clinical trials. Shortly after that, the national medicines regulator suspended its use in clinical trials.

For its part, the World Health Organization announced Monday that it's temporarily halting the hydroxychloroquine part of its global Solidarity trial amid a safety review.
