I must remember to sympathise with my female Muslim colleagues about their inability to drive.

Presumably their husbands are actually remotely controlling their cars.

And it's sad that a disclaimer like this has to be required.

This particular thread is about a white-supremacist shooter who tried to massacre a bunch of people at mosque and was stopped. Objectively here's nothing for Islam to be "let off the hook" about, regarding this incident. There's just some people who cannot let a story about a violent crime, if the perpetrator is a race-motivated white person, get coverage without demanding a half-page footnote that other people who belong to the incident's victim-class have also done bad things sometimes too.

Manshaus is considered to be sane enough to stand trial in spite of claiming that he killed his sister to protect the family. He is also a homophobe who used to be in a homosexual relationship.
(In Denmark we have an extreme right-wing politician who is a homosexual homophobe. Wilhelm Reich wasn't right about orgone energy, but he was probably right about the harm that repression of sexuality can have on the mind.)

Yes, what an insane country it is where a defense attorney seeks the acquittal of their client.

Is that really so uncommon in the USA?

Meanwhile, letting him free is never going to happen. Even if he was ruled legally insane and not responsible for his actions, an acquittal would mean forced psychiatric care.

Just like the US where being criminally insane is a defense. The only case I know of where they let the murderer sign themselves out was in Japan over a canibal murder in france by a japanese national who became a minor celebrity after he checked himself out after being returned to Japan for being criminally insane.
