Are these the same polls that were used to predict a landslide victory for Hillary?

They predicted Hillary had an 80% chance of winning. Which was probably entirely accurate. Like if you roll a die, and I tell you that you have a 84% chance ofnot rolling a six. If you then do roll a six, it doesn't change the fact that your odds were against you.

Eta: you'll also remem er Trump barely scraped a victory in several of the states he needed. I seem to recall he won three states by only a total of 14 000 votes or whate er it was.

Apologies if this has already been mentioned, but the hashtag #JusticeForCarolyn has been trending on twitter.

Since twitter are refusing to take down the Trumps' spreading of the conspiracy theory about Joe Scarborough being a murderer, people have invented a new one - that Trump strangled his PA, Carolyn Gombell, to death in 2000 because he got her pregnant and she threatened to tell the papers. The idea is to force twitter to a) take them down and thereby admit to hypocrisy, or b) take down Trump's tweets.

I imagine it'll all come to nothing, but it's a noble effort.

Not sure I'd call it noble.

One of the insidious effects of Trump's nonsense is that it brings harm to the victim's family for political purposes. Seems to me that this effort has the same effect.

There are (at least) two bad parties in Trump's disinformation campaign.

(1) Twitter is bad for aiding Trump's spread of lies for the sake of profit.
(2) Trump is bad for many reasons, among them causing harm to an innocent and private family.

Trying to force Twitter to stop their harmful act by mirroring Trump's harmful act is not noble in my mind.

Which polls where that? As I recall, Hillary was expected to win a narrow popular vote victory, and she did.

Well to be fair there were polls earlier in the election that showed Clinton with a much bigger lead. But, as happens, elections show increases and decreases in popularity as events occur.

But it is accurate that The polls taken right before the election showed a narrow lead in popular vote.

Biden has a lead in the polls now (even bigger than Clinton's was right before the election). But there is still many months to go before voting day and lots can happen. (I suspect widespread fraud by the Republicans related to Covid19 could become an issue)

Why would they want Trump's help?

First of all, the trump administration is completely incompetent, with plenty of unqualified people in charge and a president who somehow knows less than nothing.

Secondly Trump has been spending years bashing China (trade wars, Covid19 accusations)... India's president may live trump (due to their shared racist history) but China has reason to suspect they might be treated unfairly.

On the other hand, this does lend some support to the claim that mail-in ballots are somewhat more susceptible to fraud than in-person voting.

I'm not saying that it's a terrible risk, but imagine if this were a group of intelligent plotters rather than a single mailman changing the request for five ballots in a primary. It's conceivable that it could have some effect. (Not, far as I can tell, probable, but conceivable.)

Well, that's solved then.

I hope this was assigned to Kushner. Now that the Middle East and Opiates are all good and COVID is utterly tamed, he's had a bit of down time.

But in an election where more votes will be cast by mail, there's some extra benefit to attacking the vote-by-mail system.

I'm not saying it's a terrible threat and I'm not saying that voting by mail in November is a bad plan if the pandemic is still raging. I do think that some folks seem to be saying that voter fraud in this situation is no more concern than in in-person voting and that's not entirely true.

None of this excuses Trump's terrible lies about vote-by-mail in Democratic led states.

A simple security seal that temporarily invalidates the ballot if there's signs of tampering when the ballot is received. If so, the voter is contacted and the situation dealt with.

Each ballot has a code that can be used for tracking its state. In the mail, received, counted, etc.

According to this the “civic integrity policy” under which they are doing it applies to users “manipulating or interfering in elections or other civic processes”.

So that’s pretty much everything Trump tweets.
