The Trump Presidency: Part 21

Well, I expect most of them will turn tail, once they realize Trump is not there to parole them. But even a few of them can cause some nasty incidents. ... Overthrow the government, however? Not likely.
For clarification, I don't for a second (knock on wood) think the US will descend into civil war or anything. But we've already had one nutcase with pipe bombs, several murders (over face masks and social distancing, to boot), and other incidents from the trumpkins. We have already got armed goons marching into a government building while officials were trying to work.

Long term, the Democrats have to get white working class and white middle-income voters back. The Democrats somehow have to find a way to convince these people that this anger all the polls show them to have -- the system only works for the wealthy, the rich get richer while we get poorer -- is being manipulated by people like donald trump. While they're chanting "Build the Wall!" and "Lock Her Up!" the Republicans they help elect are playing them like a fiddle. I saw a chart that showed the average middle class American got a $120.00 tax cut from the Republican/trump sponsored tax bill, while the very wealthy got an average $40,000 tax cut.

How do we wake these people up?

One would likely have to undermine the notion that Trump would restore perfection to his voters and prop up another unknown Republican to take his place. Alternatively, Democrats could try to extend an olive branch to the fiscal conservatives. There isn't a way to convince Trump's base to vote Democrat, not even with money matters, due to values dissonance.

Yes, it was on Vox:
https://www.vox.com/2016/3/1/11127424/trump-authoritarianism

I posted an article earlier on how an attraction to and acceptance of authoritarianism is the single most common feature among Trump supporters. It explained how Republicans are far likely to accept and approve of authoritarianism than Democrats.

This is from another article on authoritarianism and Trump:

https://verdict.justia.com/2019/03/...pport-donald-trump-in-a-word-authoritarianism

Ironically, the more you just understand what's going on from a scientific standpoint, the less hopeful it appears. It took 50 years, from Nixon to Trump, for the authoritarians to be fully out. Not sure how to quickly turn that back, so we're stuck for a while, it looks like. Gotta make the best of it somehow, tamp it down as much as possible, etc.

Yes, as I say, nasty incidents. And that is bad enough.

Mitch, I love you, but this is 100% true. Time is running out. Get tough and move quickly, or it will be too late. The Dems are vicious, but got caught. They MUST pay a big price for what they have done to our Country. Don’t let them get away with this! @LindseyGrahamSC

Mitch McConnell has spent years pretending as though the Russian collusion hoax never happened. If he thinks he's going to keep the Senate majority and confirm more judges without addressing the hoax and holding the hoaxers accountable, he's lost his mind. https://thefederalist.com/2020/05/1...-hold-resistance-accountable-for-russia-hoax/

This is true. I say it all the time. The Republicans must play by the same rules, or die! Wow Mollie, you are good.

McConnell should remember he can’t confirm good judges if GOP is not in majority and if Trump isn’t president to nominate them. Both things are threatened by his long-time lack of interest in holding Russia hoaxers accountable for what they did. https://thefederalist.com/2020/05/1...-hold-resistance-accountable-for-russia-hoax/

Really sad, but even “sadder”, watch flunky @Lawrence CRY when I whipped his mind & he was FORCED to apologize to me over Apprentice fees. Even Psycho Cold Case Joe Scarborough (bad ratings) beat him up, on air, unmercifully. Find tapes & play (5 years back?).

The Mueller probe was launched not to find wrongdoing from the Trump administration, but to cover up wrongdoing by Mueller's colleagues, by his protege James Comey, by the corrupt Obama administration Department of Justice.

If FBI agents will fabricate evidence against the opposition party, and use that evidence to attain warrants from an obliging FISA court, what would they do to an average American?

Of media who peddled Russia collusion hoax and are covering up truth about it, McConnell said: "you guys are so good at your job, truth always comes out, sometimes it takes a little longer than other times, but we’ll find out what in fact did happen."

I assume that our elites in media and government pretended to fall for the Russia hoax, rather than actually fell for it, for the purpose of harming Trump. But I do worry that they really were that weak in their critical thinking.

The fact is that we already have more compelling evidence that the Obama administration engaged in misconduct than we ever did for opening the Russian-collusion investigation.

reporters pretend not to understand Obama admin scandal of leaking/spying/lying about Russia collusion. As truth continues to roll out, media should stop engaging in coverups and pretending not to understand why this is scandalous, illegal behavior.

Someone committed a crime in the Michael Flynn case. It wasn’t him.

We’ve done a GREAT job on Covid response, making all Governors look good, some fantastic (and that’s OK), but the Lamestream Media doesn’t want to go with that narrative, and the Do Nothing Dems talking point is to say only bad about “Trump”. I made everybody look good, but me!

In Texas armed groups have begun 'assisting' businesses like bars and tattoo parlors reopen in defiance of the state's restrictions.

The armed demonstrators use very confrontational rhetoric.

But what happens this November if trump loses the election and claims fraud? Are these the groups that will roll out to 'protect their president?' The damage trump has done to the U.S. and our way of life is incalculable. And predictable. This country may never be the same. :(

An armed group 'protecting' a bar owner's right to do business during a public health crisis being arrested by local law enforcement.

These ******** are big talkers until the cops show up with guns, then they throw up their hands and surrender like as if they were Frenchmen.

That leads to roughly the same peed - remember y'all, taking a hardware feature list from a guy who has repeatedly said that the F35 is "invisible" (it's a freaking stealth jet, not the invisible jet, that's from Wonder Woman), and calls this a "super duper" missile (that phrasing is from a child) is a mistake.

"Peed" is all about the tape. "Speed" is what the jet is about.

:p

President @realDonaldTrump says India is one of the countries America is working on a vaccine with

So, Team Trump says that Donald Trump says India is working with the US on a vaccine.

They couldn’t just say that the US is partnering with many countries including India?

Yes, Mr. President. But making others look good by comparison is not something to brag about. On the plus side, you are absolutely right that you did not make yourself look good.

......
Can anyone explain why he put his name in quotes?

Breaking News: “More than anything, this pandemic has fully, finally torn back the curtain on the idea that so many of the folks in charge know what they’re doing.”

Former President Barack Obama criticized U.S. leaders’ coronavirus response in a virtual commencement speech for historically black colleges and universities.

Obama doesn't understand at all. Saying Trump did it wrong will actually help Trump. If Obama said Trump done something right, it could lose Trump 5% easily.
