The Trump Presidency: Part 21

Trump's Tweet Storm belongs in the Trump has a mental illness thread as evidence.

Anything Trump retweets belongs in a Why I think Trump Supporters are Stupid thread.

Trump's Twitter storm was 125 tweets over 16 hours, averaging one every 7.5 minutes.

What a shining light, what a leader, what a President, what a warrior!

A nice photoshop would be Trump on the can, tweeting, his pants around his ankles. "Nah, he's not nuts," would be the caption.

This is ******* depressing. I'm not even sure the USA is a Democracy anymore. Or a Republic. Trump seems determined to make it a fascist state with himself at the helm, and with the only media allowed are the ones that praise him to the heavens.

I think it's more like he wants to make the country into a huge corporation, with himself as the mascot. Like Ronald McDonald: he thinks he's in charge because he's on all the commercials, but McDonald's isn't actually run by a damn clown. (Well, it is, but it's the clown from It, not Ronald McDonald.)

Unlike the USA.

I finally got it! Original Star Trek episode “Day of the Dove” in which an alien entity is discovered that draws its energy off of hate. So it manipulates people (and Klingons) toward the desired goal: generating hate for it to feed on.

Remind you of any POTUS you know of? Hate is both what drives Trump and how he manipulates his followers. Are we sure he is of this Earth?

Drama queen Trump just stormed off stage from his press conference, because of "nasty" questions from a journalist. He refused to answer, and told the female Asian journalist to go ask China.

He wouldn't last a minute facing the press in Europe.

Please send a few over.

What is all this "Obamagate" crap about? Is it his response to Obama's criticism the other day? His latest attempt to direct attention away from Covid 19? Introducing his new 2020 campaign rhetoric?

I think it's all of them. But exactly what IS "Obamagate"? According to The Independent, O-gate is

....a catch-all for the web of beliefs in right-wing circles that Mr Obama was part of a vast network of conspirators who sought to undermine his 2016 campaign and intentionally beset the first two years of his presidency with a sham Russia investigation.
Recently declassified documents from the Flynn case show Mr Obama knew about Mr Flynn’s phone calls with Mr Kislyak in December 2016 when he met on 5 January 2017 with then-FBI Director James Comey, then-CIA Director John Brennan, then-Vice President Joe Biden, then-Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, and then-Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates.

There is no evidence, at this point, to suggest Mr Obama directed the FBI to entrap Mr Flynn when agents questioned him on 24 January 2017 about his correspondence with Mr Kislyak.

There is also no public evidence to suggest Mr Obama had any interest in pursuing the Russia interference threads other than to protect US institutions from undue influence by one of its chief foreign adversaries.

Mr Flynn’s saga is only one aspect of Mr Trump’s wider Obamagate theory.

That theory maintains that a corrupt cabal of Never-Trump top US intelligence officials — such as Mr Comey and FBI agent Peter Strzok — colluded with the international intelligence community, Ukraine, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and others to create a pretext to investigate the 2016 Trump campaign’s ties to Russia by entrapping former campaign adviser George Papadopoulos in a sting operation by providing fake dirt purportedly from Russia on Hillary Clinton.

The theory also maintains that Mr Comey, the allegedly corrupt FBI director who was supposedly a leader of the conspiracy against Mr Trump, wrote a letter to Congress just weeks before the 2016 election announcing the bureau’s continued probe into Ms Clinton’s email server as a false flag to throw people off the scent of his real intentions to harm Mr Trump.

The grand theory also incorporates the unsubstantiated conspiracy theory that it was Ukraine, and not Russia, that hacked the DNC and Clinton campaign emails that Wikileaks published over the crucial weeks and months leading up to the 2016 election that painted Democratic politics in negative tones and many believe contributed to Mr Trump’s victory.

Trump's nuts, people. But that doesn't stop his Republican congressional cronies from backing this nonsense or his supporters from swallowing this nonsense. They want to believe soooooooo badly.

What do you think your reporters would do? Rush the stage? Somebody who's disruptive can be thrown out, even arrested, and it would embarrass his employer. What reporters could do -- and it surprises me that they aren't doing it -- is to work together. When Trump sidesteps a question or tells a lie, the next person he calls on could ask the same question, maybe starting out, "Let me follow up....," and if that answer wasn't satisfactory the next one would ask again. Trump would never answer, but we might see him explode. Today's press conference was actually pretty effective: An Asian-looking reporter asked a reasonable question, Trump slurred China and her personally, then stalked off. We need to see more of that, for Biden's campaign commercials.

I agree that reporters should do exactly that: don't let Trump get away with not answering a question. Push him to the wall.

Trump, of course, wouldn't last five minutes in an actual corporation. He's never had to answer to a board of directors or shareholders. Regardless of his (lack of) performance, there's never been anyone who could fire him. He's never had to play the game, just play the boss.

He doesn't want to turn the country into a corporation, just a sole proprietorship. And doesn't realize he's really a puppet being used by his masters on the corporate and religious right.

The puppeteers make a triad; the aforementioned corporatists and evangelicals, and Putin. To all, a useful idiot.

Wow, Trump just tucked his tail between his legs and ran off to lick his wounds. He walked out the press conference after he couldn't handle be questioned by two women. Trump has never done well when pressed by women but this was bad even for him.

In Trump's world, woman have one job, that is to pee on each other so he can watch.

What do you think your reporters would do?

No. Here the politician would be invited to an interview on tv, and saying no is usually not an option. The public won't respond well to a politician who refuses to face hard questions.

I can't remember the last time I saw an American politican go through that. Whenever I see an American politician go through an extended interview, it's more cosy than tough.
