They don't withstand scrutiny. I'm sure most people know you're as independent as Bill O'Reilly is.
Very well.

This scandal makes something that was already strange even stranger: why has he been dawdling for so long on announcing a running mate selection? If he had one, that would eliminate the question of what the party does if he quits or becomes incapacitated/dead, and his campaign would finally have somebody connected to it who might finally be able to draw some positive attention instead of leaving the campaign in an endless state of trying to hide because the only attention it's ever been able to draw was already negative even before Reade.
Is that what he's avoiding because he's afraid it would get him sidelined and cares more about that than about what becomes of the party that seems to wish they weren't stuck with him?
I can see you're still groping for purchase,

The Reade allegations are super awkward for him, I think. He said he'd pick a woman VP, but now any woman he picks is going to have to say something about his #metoo moment.
So his options are gonna be women who want no part of it. Who want to avoid like the plague the choice between supporting Biden against Reade, or supporting Reade against Biden. Or his other option is gonna be women who are too crazy to know better.
You want a woman like Warren, but a woman like Warren doesn't want any piece of this controversy. The women who do want a piece of this controversy aren't the kind of people you really want to be a part of your administration.
His best bet really is Jill Biden.
Dems on Twitter melting over MSNBC’s Chris Hayes discussing Tara Reade story. Foaming calls for him to be fired remind me of Trump supporter reactions to Shepherd Smith not toeing the party line on Fox.
The Biden allegations are really exposing a lot of these Democrats as fair-weather metoo friends. Happy to jump on the bandwagon when it's some conservative freak getting the treatment, but totally unwilling to clean their own house.
The sincere MeToo people must be really feeling some intense whiplash. The knives are coming out.
I don't know anything about this website, but it contains a very lengthy attempt to tarnish Ms. Reade's credibility (that would, of course, presume that the website is credible). Some of the highlights include her on several occasions praising Biden for working to end sexual assault, allegations that she attempted to steal money when helping with a charity auction, and several years spent as a big fan of Russia and Putin and critic of the US.
I report, you decide.

I also found a tweet confirming the charge of stealing money from the charity. This tweet received a reply claiming that she had skipped out on rent and other bills, but the claimed amount was so large that I doubt its credibility. There was another, more interesting reply: the tweeter mentioned that though it has become fashionable in recent years for women to not wear hose, it would have been outside the fashion norms for a woman to not wear hose in the early 1990's, especially in a setting where people are expected to dress very well.

The dreams of MeToo realized. Having your serious sexual assault allegation swept under the rug because the Krassenstein brothers (notorious grifters) say you're an unreliable weirdo based on anonymous complaints and cherry picked tweets.
Tara Reade, based on her past comments on Russia and other subjects, seems to be a strange duck, you'll get no argument from me on that. That doesn't mean she can't be the victim of a sexual assault. I'm sorry she isn't as clean cut and professional as Dr. Ford, but she is a human being with value all the same. We still have to treat her with the default amount of dignity until there is evidence she's lying.
Maybe she's a liar. Maybe she's a serial liar. Journalists should look into this. Chase down these anonymous people smearing her and get them on the record. They probably should have done this months ago when Biden wasn't the presumptive nominee, but that ship has sailed.
Smearing her as a lying weirdo based on half-rumor and not bothering to investigate the story is abhorrent.

Which items in Krassenstein brothers article do you think are not true? Are you claiming that they forged the tweets in which she praised Biden? Are you claiming that she hasn't both said that she drove to DC to take the job and that she flew to DC to take the job?
Since we have evidence that her story has changed drastically, don't we already have evidence that she's a liar? Interviews with her coworkers show that she seems to have made things up about what her job at the time entailed, and now we have claims that she stole money from a charity that she works for, so this is more evidence that she's not trustworthy.
I long for the days when the media was pretty tightly controlled, and if someone came in with a salacious but unprovable story, the editors would look at it and say, "We don't have enough to run with this." and it would never be heard of in the general public again. Whether it's Tara Reade or Christine Blasey Ford, we simply would never have heard of them, because the editors would kill the story if they didn't have the backup.
Nowadays, the existence of the allegation is the story itself, so there's no need for backup. There is an allegation. That's the story.
This reminds me rather a lot of the scene in presumed innocent where Harrison Fords character confesses to the murder.I'm sorry I was under the impression the USA had decided that even being caught on tape admitting to being a sexual predator didn't disqualify someone from being President, unless of course certain people are operating a massive double standard here.
