When he took his ball (the best ball, the biggest ball, etc.) and went home, I actually caught myself feeling bad for him for a second. He's not equipped to deal with the responsibility and the crisis that's been trust upon him. He's like a child given a too big or advanced task by the adults, possibly a special needs kid who doesn't cope too well with people, or expectations, or certain kinds of difficulty. My empathy kicked in, the way it would for an 11 year old asked to take the reins of 350+ million people in the middle of a crisis*.

Were it not for the fact that he's an utterly corrupt and twisted, remorseless, egocentric prat, and the fact that he chose this entirely himself, the feeling of pity might have lasted for more than a couple seconds.


*except I am sure your average 11 year old would have done a significantly better job, obviously.

Yeah, that's exactly it. With a kid, we'd still have some failures, some ignorance, some weird ideas, and maybe a good deal of crying and a tantrum or two from the sheer inhuman pressure getting to them, but most 11 year olds would try, and of course listen closely to their advisors. The result may not be perfect, maybe it wouldn't even be pretty, but a kid would at least do their best. Heck, provided she didn't crack under the pressure, I'd rather have Greta Thunberg (who'd have five years on the 11 year old, granted) as POTUS than Trump. There'd be a heck of a lot less scandals, too, well, except her environmentalist policies would probably be pretty radical .

Trump, contrary to John or Jane Doe (11) or Greta Thunberg, seems to only be in it to bask in the glory of the POTUS position while enriching himself.
