The Trump Presidency: Part 21

What would they be able to change if they did drag out his every single stupid utterance every day?

Because if they manage to get him involved in a full blown continuous twitter battle, they might be able to constantly point to and expose his idiocy even more and better, and drag him deeper and deeper into implosion. And they also show, at least on this battlefield, that they are capable too.

Of course, they need someone who is able to put out smart, sharp, and incisive but not dump and stupid tweets. It doesn't matter who it is behind the scenes. I am sure that Trump does not come up with all the nicknames by himself. And some of them are really good, like wuhan health organization. It's wrong for sure, but it's good and catchy. The Dems need someone like that too.

And then hammer him, hard, constantly. Try getting the attention in the media. Get his attention. Let him fire back, let him implode or explode.

But, don't let him have that battlefield all to himself, like it is now.

And letting him ramble uninterrupted is having an effect. He's finally losing the support of senior voters, which is huge news. Every time they see him on the news saying something spectacularly stupid, he probably loses a few more.

And how many times did we say, oh now he is losing his people, now his rating is going down, now it's too much, now they got him...

And yet, here we are.

There's an old military adage, "Never interrupt the enemy when he's in the middle of making a mistake".

Sure, they could jump on all his stupidity as it occurs, but then he might actually catch a clue, and stop saying stupid things. He'd still do stupid things, because he is, in fact, quite stupid, so people would still be getting hurt by his stupidity, but we wouldn't have nearly as much fodder for election ads later in the election process.

If the Dems had really jumped on his early advocacy for unproven drugs, we might never have gotten the brilliance of bleach and UV injections.

Hitting the airways in September with a virtually unending list of stupid Trumpisms collected over the spring and summer will be far more effective than a weekly drip-drip-drip that people eventually tune out.

It's kind of like that one episode of Archer where they spent a minute just listing out some of the wacky adventures they'd had in previous episodes. When you hear it all at once, you really remember how whacked out that show really was.

And that doesn't even mention the Space Pirates!

I had to read that several times to realise you weren't talking about the Archers. I was wondering about exactly what wacky adventures David and Shula and Phil had got up to (although I dare say Elizabeth did get up to some). Unless you are British this will be incomprehensible.

US Surgeon General tweeted

A reminder to all Americans- PLEASE always talk to your health provider first before administering any treatment/ medication to yourself or a loved one.

Well that was clearly written by someone thinking, 'How do I tell people not to go around injecting bleach without pissing off Trump and getting fired?'

And even if the excuse is "he was just suggesting that scientists try to figure out ways to deliver disinfectants into the body to kill the virus" the answer is, duh. There are thousands of biologists and chemists in the country who spend their lives trying to devise ways to deliver deadly pharmaceuticals to specific places in the body where they only damage the bad things. The concept of drug development and delivery is a huge field. They don't need the dumbass president to suggest that they inject anti-viral agents in the body. The question is, how do you do that safely and effectively? As I said in my other response, he has the ability to ask these questions to scientists in the privacy of his office, and not look like a buffoon to the nation. They would tell hi what it would take.

It reminds me of the movie MASH, where Henry brings in Spearchucker Jones to lead the football team, and Henry says, "I was thinking maybe we should have some plays we could run." Because, obviously, former pro football player Spearchucker Jones never thought about drawing up any plays.....

Yeah.

I can't imagine how people watch that sort of performance and think he's doing something impressive.

The context was that in a discussion about what kills the virus in the environment and on surfaces, Trump suggested injecting the disinfectants that kill the virus ON SURFACES into people's lungs and using cancer causing, tissue burning, UV light under the skin.

The context makes what he said more stupid. Adding additional details makes it more stupid.

That's because it was a stupid thing to say.

"Out of context" is one of those meme-things people say when they can't defend an idiocy any other way; the same way some folks here will snap "ad hom" or "argument from authority" as responses to posts that were neither thing. You could almost say "out of context" used like this depends on being used out of context.

But then, that's the lot of the die-hard Trump-supporter- you end up defending his having said Idiotic Thing A by claiming he really only meant Slightly Less Idiotic Thing B.

This only works for those individuals who aren't lucky enough to already be the foremost expert on everything. How could they be expected to come up with these things when Trump has, himself, only just come up with the concept.

So far I'm doing poorly with Fauci banishment predictions. With that in mind... I predict the doctors won't be participating in today's clown show. They would be asked about ingesting sanitizer. Best to let that dissipate over the weekend.

Dr Birx evidently doesn't. Link is to a video close up (at Mashable) of her reactions as Trump begins riffing- see if you can spot the exact moment when she goes from just "wait, what now?" to thinking damn near out loud "omg, this guy is a ******* moron." I'd say right around 0:27.

Just popping in to see if anyone is still making apologies for this imbecile after his latest idiotic pronouncement. What's the best excuse so far?

So far no excuses, but one count of back-pedalling sarcasm.

Again, I have noticed the trumpkins growing more quiet latelly, like they did after the blue wave and during the impeachment hearings :) . The term fair-weather friend comes to mind. Again.

The only answer any Trump fan will ever need to excuse any idiocy he ever says or commits is the one he provided for them the same day (really from day one)-

I'm the president and you're fake news.

The commonest excuse I've seen is that he's doing it to trigger the libs.
Dear Patriotic Citizen, we are sorry to give you hamrful advice, and mismanage our great nation so as to kill you and Your Great Patriotic Friends and Relatives, but we appreciate that you understand it is to trigger our mortal enemies the Liberals. The United Patriotic States of Trump's America thanks you for your sacrifices during these bigly difficult times  .
MAGA!

I too am looking forward to the many campaign ads.

At the moment the charts don't look like peaking but plateauing - with nationwide systematic social distancing efforts the infections and deaths would certainly begin declining but as things are now the numbers don't look like that at all.
