So the top 14 are women.
I find this fascinating, can anyone clarify if there is a spoken or unspoken edict?

Spoken. Biden has stated outright that he would pick a woman to be his VP. Harris is a black woman with pretty good experience both as a California AG and as a senator who has held people's feet to the fire, and who turned down a US AG offer from Barack Obama, so I'm not shocked to see her as the favorite. I'm a bit surprised Duckworth is below Obama, and just above Clinton - the latter two are definite no's.

Biden doesn't need a Black VP to get Black support - but OTOH he would be the only White nominee who could have a Black VP without it looking somewhat bad.

Thanks for that.
Please do not elect a prosecutor to such a position. This is not a good idea for a president, which she would become with a medical mishap by an octogenarian Biden.

Harris as a prosecutor was part of a number of controversial decisions and actions that haunted her during her campaign. Klobuchar to some degree has the same problem. It wouldn't be smart to pick a VP candidate who starts with marks against her.

It's a democratic candidate, so it doesn't matter who you choose, there will always be "marks against her," no matter how much they have to invent.

For pete's sake, the Republicans were the ones who used John Kerry's military awards against him! You would think "This guy is a decorated military veteran" would be one of those things that would be hard to address, but no, not in right wing politics.

Then again, John McCain picked a VP candidate who started with no marks against her.

Nah, the best is when he loses his temper when someone sasses him. He might do anything from challenge you to a pushup contest to making his own eyeball pop! You never know, with Joe!

The pushup contest a pretty good one, but I haven't seen to many other ones. Still, pending further research, I have to go with the make-believe stories. I don't think making up stories is inherently funny, but Joe has a special touch.

I think my favorite thing about Joe Biden is when he makes up stories.

I'm glad you can find something you like about Biden! I know how little Biden's story telling ability actually compares to your guy's complete dominance in the category, so the "bless his heart, he thinks he can BS like Trump" is probably the best that we can do in that regard.

It's not really fair to compare a 4 year old stealing a gumball (Biden) to Bernie Madoff (Trump), but still, thanks for trying to find something nice to say.

“Not as big a liar as Trump. Vote Biden!”

Must we always do tit-for-tat, tu quokey? Can't this just be a thread to appreciate Biden himself, for the very special guy he is?

Sigh. Even in a perfectly fine Joe Biden thread, it seems all you can talk about is Trump. You must be a blast at dinner parties.

Nothing you could say could tear me away from my guy.

I know.

I know, I know, comparing Biden to Trump really shows how hollow these comparisons are. Let's give little pity claps to Biden while we know your guy is leagues above him, ok?

When the Democrat message in this election is limited to “stop Trump” this is what you will get. We saw this thinking dominate the threads on the primaries.

Her main "mark" consists of a single case that likely wasn't brought to her attention in the first place. Her overall record? Working with parents to prevent major truancy, deemphasis of nonviolent marijuana prosecutions, emphasis on domestic violence and sexual assault, and strong work on reentry programs for first-time offenders. Overall, pretty damn good.

Oh, and she'd shred Pence in a debate as well.
