The Trump Presidency: Part 21

Are the trumpistas thinking of some other Rosa Parks? Because I don't remember Rosa Parks grabbing a rifle and threatening to commit domestic terrorism during a pandemic.

What it is is an attempt to trigger the libs. Take a noted black icon and abuse their image for your own idiotic purposes. Triggering the libs is number 1 on the agenda of right wing idiots after all.

Trump’s bold gamble on hydroxychloroquine (HC) appears to be paying off. Medical professionals in NY tell Judicial Watch that doctors battling the pandemic are increasingly reporting benefits from the drug. They’re prescribing it for themselves & patients

So unnamed 'medical professionals in NY' are reporting 'benefits', are they? How do they know these unspecified benefits are the result of HC and they would have occurred without HC anyway? Did they do comparison trials with a placebo? No. As of now, there is no trial that has shown HC has any benefit for the coronavirus. On the other hand, the same Judicial Watch article also stated:

In New York, the epicenter of the pandemic, HC is now in wide circulation and a big clinical trial is underway. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is a fan, saying anecdotal evidence suggests the drug is “effective.” Others are less enthusiastic. The European Union, American Academy of Clinical Toxicology, American College of Medical Toxicology, and American Association of Poison Control Centers, among others, have issued warnings.

This is also Judicial Watch whichnis listed as a "Questionable Source" by MediaBias/Fact Check due to his right wing biased reporting.

Let's see if authorities enforce the social-distancing orders for mosques during Ramadan (April 23-May 23) like they did churches during Easter

This is a very revealing statement...and it does not reflect well on Paul Sperry.

"bUt UnixerSAL hEALth CAre WERX in OTHeR CoUNtires!"

Yeah and Americans are all stupid and Europeans are all just better than us. I mean we voted Trump into office. We don't get soccer. Our cheese is bad and we drink weak beer. We're all a bunch of stupid hicks firing our guns into the air and sleeping with our sisters.

Again if "Americans are just worse people" is always the excuse, it's always the excuse.

I'm not pretending to know WHY other countries can make it work. I am just pointing out that they can.

Trump Tweets

The most often used phrase in the Lamestream Media, by far, is “sources say”, or “officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity”, or anything similar which allows Fake News to make up a phony quote from a person who doesn’t even exist. The American people should demand NAMES!

Oh, the irony! This from President Donald "People are saying" Trump himself.

Here's a very interesting article on Trump's response during February.

https://www.cnn.com/interactive/2020/04/politics/trump-covid-response-annotation/

Ignoring the introduction for a moment, the meat of the article is a list of everything Trump did in the month of February. The introduction is not so neutral, but the meat of the article is just a day by day list of actions.

Pssstt.....He didn't do anything of consequence other than the travel restrictions, unless you count that late in the month, I believe it was the 24th, he announced that there would be a task force led by VP Pence.

The response to pointing out that many models of UHC exist is to act like someone insulted your mother?

We are a hopelessly insecure lot.

I wonder how many people who live in countries with UHC would change their system for the private medical health insurance system the US has? They may moan and gripe about long waits, etc, but I've yet to see one who would exchange theirs for ours.

Trump regarding his son, Barron and opening back up.
"I have a (pause) young boy who goes to school. I'd like to see him go to school."

He doesn't say, "a son", nor does he speak Barron's name.

Yeah, it was like when he said "Melania has a son........together." It's like he's not aware of Barron at all.

Weird.

I would dispute that you can simply change the healthcare system in that way without changing the culture and a lot else besides, both as a necessary condition of being able to make such a change, and a consequence of having made it. To the extent that the success of the US has some relationship to individualism, self reliance, etc... UHC seems to me like a step in the opposite direction towards a more paternalistic, European way of doing things. Maybe it's worth it regardless?

The attempt worked as usual. I'm not so sure I would call the people who are doing the triggering idiots rather than those who get triggered over and over and over again.

Trump on Pence's call with Dem governors:
I heard they were so rude. Rude and nasty. No matter what he said, which was all very positive in terms of winning this battle against the invisible enemy, no matter what he he said they were fresh. They were nasty.

And once again, conservatives reveal their number one priority.

Is it saving lives and helping to stem the tide of a national crisis? Of course not.

It’s “Har har lets trigger libtards!!11!’”.

Trump attacks media for reporting stats indicating US has more coronavirus deaths than China:
China's number one, just so you understand, China is number 1 by a lot. They are way ahead of us in terms of death. It is not even close. You know it, I know it, they know it."

TRUMP:
You don't hear about ventilators. What happened to ventilators? Now they are giving you the other -- it's called, 'testing, testing.' But they don't want to use all of the capacity we have created ...the Democrat governors know that. They're the ones that are complaining"

Where do you live? What are you trying to say? Medicare, the national single-payer insurance system for Americans over 65, is successful and generally respected, and customers can choose to augment it with additional coverage from private insurers who are closely regulated. A large percentage of Americans get their health care through insurance provided by their employers, and the employers decide what their employees will get and how much it will cost. People who have to buy insurance for themselves in the private market pay large premiums and high deductibles. Medicaid is a program for lower-income people, but every state decides for itself who will be eligible and what will be covered, and some are downright miserly.

What makes you imagine that Americans wouldn't generally welcome reforms in the health care system that would make coverage cheaper and more accessible?

Now attacking Obama

"We started with a broken system from a previous administration or administrations" -- Trump ludicrously tries to blame Obama for not preparing for a virus that didn't even exist under years after he left office

Unfortunately, some partisan voices are trying to politicize the issue of testing, which they shouldn't be doing. Because I inherited broken junk

We started off with a broken system. We inherited a broken, terrible system. And I always say it, our cupboards were bare. We had very little in our stockpile
