The Trump Presidency: Part 20

I had to mute it. He dropped the names of all the sports team owners because he had a conference with them, he's still ranting about "opening the country back up", blames the states for PPE and ventilator shortages, says the feds need to keep a supply in case there is a great need someplace...
...snip

Minor nit - they were professional sports league commissioners, plus the WWE and UFC guys.

Also said that governors are playing political games with ventilators.

How did Trump manage to make this all about him?

Multiple observers say that these daily press conferences are Trump's substitute for the rallies he can't hold. If it was just about providing information, only the docs would speak, and only when there was something new to report.

He's the center of attention. If only the media wouldn't attack him with their fake news questions....

OMG....is it me or did Trump just give one of the stupidest, rambling, false comments ever on ventilators and the answer as to what happens to those who are using them?

Exactly

But you know, we have to stoke Trump's fantasy. It makes him more pleasant for the rest of the day provided the news media doesn't piss him off.

Fauci went on the tout his 6 feet of separation recommendation. Shock, he saw marks on the sidewalk keeping people 6 feet apart in a line. It warmed his heart.

Trump's back to saying he wants to open the country up, more fantasizing.

Now he's bragging about having no opponent in the primary. What sitting POTUS has ever had an opponent in the primary unless they announced they weren't running for a second term?

Jimmy Carter.

In the UK one of hospitals, one that is a centre of excellence for cancer treatment is only taking non-virus patients and cancer patients from other hospitals (Royal Marsden) the idea is to try and free up the other hospitals as much as possible to deal with the virus and to try and prevent the cancer patients being exposed to the virus whilst in hospital. It could be the idea is to use the military hospital in this way?

I read an article on lessons learned from Italy's response to COVID, and one major point they made was that they shouldn't have mixed COVID patients in hospitals with other patients. So maintaining a strict separation from now on, when possible, seems important.

Virtue signaling.

#Barron was trending on Twitter because some reporter asked how the first kid was handling Coronavirus. The braying baboon's nincompoop followers melted, gushing, "Awww, look at how much our president loves his son. You can tell he's such a good dad."

Which reminds me. I need to stay away from Twitter.

It struck me that it wasn't until about his third sentence that Trump mentioned his name. Then he blurted "Barron!" Almost as if he was stalling for time trying to remember it.

Is that why Donnie Jr wouldn't even talk to his father for a year? Senior called Jr. "Donny" even though Sr. said he hates that name.

Ivana said that Trump was an absentee father who had no idea how to talk to or relate to his children until after college when he could talk business with them. She said the children didn't know how to relate to him, either. Jr. told Oprah that he and his siblings then spent a lot of time with Trump, but always in a business environment.

During his parents' divorce, Trump sent a bodyguard to basically kidnap Jr and bring his son to his office. Trump then called Ivana "looking for some leverage" and told her he was going to keep Donnie. Ivana called his bluff and said "Okay, fine. Keep him. I have two other kids to raise." Trump sent his son right back to his mother.

Yeah, he's some great father, all right. Jr. is still looking for his father's approval and attention, I think.
