At the moment, here in the US... it looks like the military assistance - hospital ships and tent hospitals - are being limited to helping people who do not have coronavirus. That means that only those who test negative might be transferred to them.
In practice, that means that, as of last check, they were helping about 15 people total for the NYC situation. That number should grow a bit as testing continues to ramp up, but... *sigh*

Doubtful given the negative reaction and all he was probably trying to do was pretend sending troops to the southern border wasn't really about brown people....
Is Trump still planning on deploying U.S. military to the northern border? I don't see anything in the news more recent then last week when this 'plan' first came to light. With Trump, you never know. Since he doesn't seem to know what's he going to do from moment-to-moment, how can anyone else?
You are suggesting without COVID only 15 people would be in NY hospitals?

I suspect you are expecting a different timeline. Give it a week or so to get people moved and for the ships and field hospitals to take in new admissions. No, and I have little idea how you arrived at that interpretation from what was actually said. I'm saying that, currently, the presence of military assets to help with the situation is show, not substance. Having 1000 extra available hospital beds, of which 15 of them are being used, is not much real help when people are dying in large numbers and the hospitals are being stretched to their limits, while being largely unable to take advantage of those extra beds. I saw some indication that they're likely changing the rules for who can be cared for a bit, but... currently, it's still show, not substance.
ETA: 20, now, for the Comfort, incidentally.
Navy Hospital Ship Sits Mostly Empty As Coronavirus Cripples New York
Only 20 of the USNS Comfort’s 1,000 beds have been filled, but new guidelines issued Friday could allow for more non-COVID-positive patients to make it aboard.
Also, at last check, the ground-based military temporary hospitals were working under similar guidelines and usage numbers, rendering them similarly in a position of show, not substance.

Citation Needed, but my wife was watching the afternoon presser. He said shelves were bare at the end of the last administration and the US military had no ammunition. Can someone verify? I value my brain cells too much to even look.
ETA: Ok, I looked.

*Kelly's election opponentEven before that, Kelly’s campaign made a stronger accusation in a March 3, 2020 email sent to supporters, in which Kelly claimed: "Judge Karofsky* and her radical liberal allies want to disarm law abiding citizens."
Our definition of Mostly False is a "statement contains an element of truth but ignores critical facts that would give a different impression."
That fits here.
At the briefing
Jonathan Karl: Cuomo says NY may be days away from running out of ventilators. Can you assure NY that they will have the ventilators they need?
TRUMP: No. They should've had more ventilators at the time. They should've had more ventilators.
More than once, President Donald Trump has falsely claimed that the federal stockpile of emergency medicine and supplies he inherited from his predecessor was an “empty shelf.”
While the government does not publicize all of the contents of the repository, at the time Trump took office, the Strategic National Stockpile, as it is formally known, reportedly contained vast amounts of materials that state and local health officials could use during an emergency, including vaccines, antiviral drugs, ventilators and protective gear for doctors and nurses.
“The SNS was definitely not an empty shell,” Dr. Tara O’Toole, a former homeland security official during the Obama administration who is now executive vice president at the nonprofit strategic investment firm In-Q-Tel, told us in an email.
https://www.factcheck.org/2020/04/trump-falsely-claims-he-inherited-empty-stockpile/But NPR science correspondent Nell Greenfieldboyce was allowed to visit one facility in June 2016 — only months before Trump was inaugurated in January 2017. In her article about the warehouse she toured, she described the shelves as being the opposite of bare.
Greenfieldboyce, for NPR, June 26, 2016: The Strategic National Stockpile got its start back in 1999, with a budget of about $50 million. Since then, even though the details aren’t public, it’s clear that it has amassed an incredible array of countermeasures against possible security threats.
The inventory includes millions of doses of vaccines against bioterrorism agents like smallpox, antivirals in case of a deadly flu pandemic, medicines used to treat radiation sickness and burns, chemical agent antidotes, wound care supplies, IV fluids and antibiotics.
Just outside it, there are rows upon rows of ventilators that could keep sick or injured people breathing. Mabry explains that they’re kept in a constant state of readiness. “If you look down to the side you’ll see there’s electrical outlets so they can be charged once a month,” she says. Not only that—the ventilators get sent out for yearly maintenance.
Trump just saw the cut with all the action bits. They saw the movie.
Wonder if we will see a tweet about a tremendous government support package for all businesses owning at least 3 golf resorts, a hotel in DC, a tower in Chicago and the name starts with a T and ends with a P.
