You are suggesting without COVID only 15 people would be in NY hospitals?

I don't think you are looking at this correctly.

I am all for not letting COVID on that ship. The staff live in very close quarters.

Hmm? Here's a crazy fact about "conservatives." The smarter and more highly educated they are, the more likely they are to believe conspiracy theories. On a related note, "conservatives" tend to score much higher in the Dark Triad - Machiavellianism, Narcissism, and Sociopathy - than liberals. So, in short, expecting them to actually try to hold themselves to the standards that many here would rate as "decent human being" is a fool's gambit. Many are decent human beings in most ways, of course, but it's not something that can be counted upon at all.

With that said, let's be completely serious here. Conservatives are very frequently not actually dumb or uneducated so much as arrogant and amoral (ETA: and are far too likely to believe that everyone else is like them or wishes that they were like them, hence the effectiveness of appealing to projection in their propaganda).

Doubtful given the negative reaction and all he was probably trying to do was pretend sending troops to the southern border wasn't really about brown people.

No, and I have little idea how you arrived at that interpretation from what was actually said. I'm saying that, currently, the presence of military assets to help with the situation is show, not substance. Having 1000 extra available hospital beds, of which 15 of them are being used, is not much real help when people are dying in large numbers and the hospitals are being stretched to their limits, while being largely unable to take advantage of those extra beds. I saw some indication that they're likely changing the rules for who can be cared for a bit, but... currently, it's still show, not substance.

ETA: 20, now, for the Comfort, incidentally.

Only 20 of the USNS Comfort’s 1,000 beds have been filled, but new guidelines issued Friday could allow for more non-COVID-positive patients to make it aboard.

Also, at last check, the ground-based military temporary hospitals were working under similar guidelines and usage numbers, rendering them similarly in a position of show, not substance.

I suspect you are expecting a different timeline. Give it a week or so to get people moved and for the ships and field hospitals to take in new admissions.
 
Citation Needed, but my wife was watching the afternoon presser. He said shelves were bare at the end of the last administration and the US military had no ammunition. Can someone verify? I value my brain cells too much to even look.

I wondered who this Justice Kelly was, so i looked up his Wikipedia page...

Trump's lies are piling up. He has claimed he inherited a broken system and the warehouses where the stockpile of ventilators, masks, etc were kept were "empty". In fact, they were not:
