I think I'll send a memo to Trump thanking him for showing the rest of the world just how stupid a majority of Americans are.

When he couldn't have done more u-turns on the disease and been more useless and spiteful than he has, his approval rating for handling the outbreak is at 49%, against 44% who disapprove.

At the same time, his overall approval rating is at the highest level since about 3 hours after inauguration.

In any country where even half of people had a brain he'd have been taken out and given a good kicking by now, but nope, good old Americans see no problem in their president going from "It's a bad cold and won't affect us at all" to "I always knew it was a pandemic" in the space of a fortnight as nothing to be concerned about.

Trump claimed (to Fox, of course) that New York couldn't possibly need 30,000 ventilators, as Gov. Cuomo has said. Trump says he's been in hospitals where they have two.
“I have a feeling that a lot of the numbers that are being said in some areas are just bigger than they’re going to be,” Trump told Fox News host Sean Hannity in a phone interview. “I don’t believe you need 40,000 or 30,000 ventilators. You know, you go into major hospitals sometimes they’ll have two ventilators, and now all of a sudden they’re saying, ‘Can we order 30,000 ventilators?’”

Yes, racism is a lot of it, but there is also party animosity involved. The white liberals live in cities.
That’s why you have rural folk saying that when the dung really hits the fan, they will be prepared to shoot anyone from the city trying to enter their country community - after all, it is self-defense - those infected people are committing attempted murder.

Also, President Trump has come to really hate NYC.

An intelligent response with a purpose requires facts not in evidence.

He's petty and hates anyone who criticizes him, he holds that grudge forever, and he hates powerful women more, especially powerful women who criticize him.

No more than that is needed to explain Trump's behavior toward yet another nasty woman.

I really resent Trump for making this announcement. He's just speculating because, as usual, he can not keep his freakin' mouth shut longer than ten seconds. Just what we need to set off a wave of panic buying in supermarkets. If he's working on a plan, work on it for christ sakes. When they decide they may do it announce in a controlled way. Don't just lob it out in a tweet you moron. You suppose he even warned New York, New Jersey and Connecticut he was going to 'tweet' this? No, of course he didn't.

Oh, and Trump wants his name to appear on the CARES checks, apparently. Mmm. Honestly, I would have no problem with that if it was actually coming out of his personal accounts. It's not, though, so that's BS.

Fortunately mine will come direct deposit.

I hope people who don't need this money find small businesses or low income people to donate it to.

Trump won't isolate NY if it affects his properties there. And don't forget Kushner's fiasco that's not in SoHo? Or wherever.

I don't mind critism of the US Heaven knows we often deserve it..it's the snide attiturde I don't like.
Of course he also shows a lot of ignorance of US politics..it's not that easy to just rise up and kick somebodyout of the White House...
COme to think of it, he has said a lot of snarky thngs about Australia also...

Worse than panic buying - how many people in these areas who have cars and are furloughed are fleeing the cities right now ahead of the "decision", taking coronavirus with them to all points? If there even was a quarantine under consideration Trump's tweet just rendered it completely moot. What a fantastic dumbass.
