The Trump Presidency: Part 20

IMO it'll just be an opportunity for President Trump to make unfounded claims about the millions of lives he has saved by closing the borders, whine about how unfair it is that his actions aren't lauded by everyone and to take cheap potshots at his political opponents.

IOW business as usual
Exactly.

And the news media thinks they have to show this daily dose of garbage because it's a 'crisis'.

If progressives are STUPID enough to throw their vote away on the Green Party, they DESERVE Trump's re-election. No pity from me for that level of idiot. Not when the stakes are this high, with the situation so awfully clear.

Bear in mind that the Green Party voters tend to be more like 1% of the voters or less, so...

LA Times: Column: Has Trump even read his own ‘Coronavirus Guidelines for America’?

Truth be told, I only glanced at it. But it was pretty much the same standard stuff we've been hearing for weeks.

It’s perfectly appropriate for the government to issue sound advisories like those on this card, which bears the logos of the White House and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The problem is that the mailing underscores the reckless inconsistency of the administration’s approach to the coronavirus pandemic.

Irony:
The document also mentions the need to debunk “exaggerated product claims,” though it anticipated that these claims would come via the internet, not out of the mouth of the president of the United States.

It should be clear by now that the Trump administration’s response has violated every one of these rules -- not merely day-to-day, but sometimes within the same briefing, as when Trump’s scientific advisors from the CDC or the Food and Drug Administration have to step to the microphone to contradict some ignorant claim Trump has made.
The commentary ends with, follow the postcard ignore Trump.

Good evening. I really wish that the reporters on the press briefings would stop addressing their questions to Trump at all. He has nothing of any value to say at all. I don't know if Corvid-19 is Catholic or not. I doubt it has Easter circled on its schedule. Just because Trump thinks that it should all be wrapped up by Easter because Trump thinks it's a "Beautiful Day." , I'm not sure that's such a good idea. Then again, I don't have his great brain genes.

Did you catch the Q&A after the presser?

1.
trump introduced and then repeatedly referred to Dr. Birx as "Deborah" in his breathy manner, while introducing and referring to Dr. Fauci as Dr. Fauci. The two doctors referred to each other as Dr./Dr.
Only right at the end did trump then, only once, refer to her as Dr. Birx.

2.
/paraphrasing
Reporters: "What metrics/data are you using to determine that easter would be a safe time to relax social distancing / going-to-work recommendations?"
trump: "we are looking at everything, we'll see, and it would be a beautiful timeline. next?"
rinse/repeat

Even Birx and Fauci were clearly under deflect/distract orders yesterday. They looked highly uncomfortable having to respond to questions at the podium and only took one each. trump cut the questions session very short because clearly they had no good answer for the timeline being suggested.

Full transcript of the briefing and Q&A is here

I'd love to see the evidence to support that claim.

Then again, even if it were true, his subsequent botching of the response has placed millions of lives at risk.

Predictable: thousands has now officially become tens of thousands.

When you live in a fantasy world, you saved as many people as you imagine you saved.

What's the word for it when people join in someone else's fantasy?

It will be millions soon, then billions and then people say I saved the human race, who knows but that’s what they are saying and a man came up to me and said “Sir, there is no one else but you who could have done what you did to save the galaxy”

Trump: Auto Manufacturers Given OK to Produce Much Needed Ventilators

There’s a lot of mud on Robert Mueller’s face these days. His mug is caked with it.

‘Ya gotta admire the hypocrisy (and stupidity) of Adam Schiff. It’s okay for him to assert a government privilege. But when Trump does it, it’s an Article of Impeachment. Schiff reminds me of what Holden Caulfield said, “All morons hate it when you call them a moron.”

Why did NPR only pick the low end to “fact check” Trump, while ignoring the high end? The Washington Post split the difference and placed flu deaths at 46,000.

This is really great news! I am so happy I can barely speak. He may have been a terrible presidential candidate and an even worse U.S. Senator, but he is a RINO, and I like him a lot!
