Are they aware that "coronavirus is gone" is probably never?

I saw a number of I'll say more serious or in-depth articles, and many explored there likely hood the virus may be an ongoing problem permanently,

It's also possible a new vaccine will not offer full protection and one that DOES offer full protection will be impossible to create, because the virus may mutate,

Perhaps several or ongoing times the same way the common cold nova virus do

(continued)

I'd like to thank many of my fellow ISF members who've posted in this thread, too many to name individually. You have truly put the "E" in JREF. I came here to see if I could better understand this whole Covid-19 thing, before it was even called that. Sometimes I found answers from my own DDGing (I use DuckDuckGo), but mostly from posts in this thread (including the links!).

I wish you all the very best. And sincerely hope you will not lose anyone near and dear to you to Covid-19 in the coming many months.

(will not be continued)

I do not see much opinion there. The article contains some statistics, a summary of the many things we do not yet know about COID-19, and a little speculation. Actual opinion seems to be lacking.

Tough crowd.

Maybe send your thoughts to the editor and have them move it from the opinion section.

Seems like nonsense to me. Eg:
Projecting the Diamond Princess mortality rate onto the age structure of the U.S. population, the death rate among people infected with Covid-19 would be 0.125%.
He doesn’t show where any of his numbers came from but they are clearly wrong. The mortality rate for people 60+ on the ship was over 2%. In the US there are 69 million people over the age of 60. This demographic alone would drive the death rate to over 0.4% before you even consider any other age groups.

The paper below adjusts the diamond Princess data to China’s demographics and comes up with a figure of 0.5%, but the US will be higher than this because it’s population is older.

Cruise Ships to Become Mobile Hospitals

Apparently (I guess not surprisingly) there are existing emergency plans that convert Cruise Ships mobile hospitals.

The US Government is make some in roads to examine this in the near future.

The idea is to use the ship for NON virus patients, the ships can be covered to i'll say "a certain level of care facility" in only a few days.

Sounds like a good idea to me!

Is it possible to have an older demo than a cruise ship? ;):D

At some gut level, I don’t fully believe it, even though the conscious bits of my brain understand it.
That's exactly how I feel. I'm cognitively aware of what's going on, but it's unreal and I feel kinda dissociated from it.

The sci-fi-ish name, COVID-19, on headlines and information posters everywhere, is just surreal to me. It really feels like I'm going to wake up or I've fallen down a rabbit hole of delusional thinking.

I was just making a joke ... you guys are a wet blanket!

Speaking of which, insufficient filters get much better if saturated. Spray booths is filters similar to home furnace filters with sprinklers similar to those on lawns. And some hot-damn filters use water curtains. I don't know how to implement on a face, except to keep the coffee filter wet with a spray bottle?

...snip...

ALSO: My original post included the wrong link. The original link is an article that points to the "real" article I intended to link. You must have started your pot in the one minute span before I edited because your quote still contains the old link.

And your point is?

On the other hand, smoking is far more pervasive in China and the level of air pollution is generally higher, which might compensate for the higher age of the US population.

I wish I had that kind of feeling ...

ALL my life I've watched almost every post apocalyptical movie there is, many several times.

This all feels TOO real to me ... I can see stuff progressing, like my daughter taking transit to work AND back Tuesday and NOBODY on the bus except her both ways.

My little shop open and 5% of normal customer traffic per day comes in .. today I received 10 times more donations than sales .. why are people giving away old locks and keys?

The freaks coming out of the woodwork ... Someone slashed almost 100 car tires last night in our area, random muggins and home invasions that are not common here, on the rise.

Runs on chain stores for food, gun and ammo sales through the roof at the local gun shop

No money to pay bills, yet no creditor calls

Having to ask for behind the counter toilet paper

I can still use my intelligence to say "It'll be OK" but I'm definitely not sure about it! :(

This gives me no pleasure at all ... the only thing I'd edit is that +/- 30% should be +/- 0.3 dex

It was pointed out to me (correctly) I had missed a decimal point the deaths would be 1,000,000 not 10 million; mea culpa.

Reading comprehension. I put the main point of what you quoted in bold to make it easier.

What is your point?

Good one ... long story short my bother and I were gutting an old lath and plaster area of house.

We had forgotten filter masks and used very tamp term cloth towels the owner gave us ...

We were surprised to find they worked better than filter masks for that type of dust, I've used that method many times since
