The Trump Presidency: Part 20

I wonder is some GOP senators are now regretting they did not get rid of the idiot when they had the chance.

And I worry they are rubbing their hands together in glee at more regulations they will be able to dump.

Apparently the financial institutions are no longer required to keep sufficient assets in order to make loans.

Since it is readily expected that governments will bail out financial institutions, zero reserve requirement is eventually just a natural outcome.

One of the regional VPs at work is constantly complaining about how stupid the EPA's Emerging Viral Pathogen Policy is, requiring disinfectants to be evaluated before they're allowed to make claims about the coronavirus. It's President Obama's fault that disinfectant companies (like us) can't just say "Our product kills x, so it will kill the coronavirus. Take our word for it."

Trump actually said this. This morning, as part of an announcement to the nation;

"It seems to me if we do a really good job, we’ll not only hold the death down to a level that’s much lower than the other way had we not done a good job"

This is probably what passes for profound among the Trump crowd.

True leadership.

Could we get Obama back to handle this? Watching Trump is really ******* depressing.

The real problem is...and Trump is along way from being the only natinal leader to be guiltyof this....leaders feel they can tell unpleasent truths to their people, they need to sugar coat everything and paint a picture full of Unicorns and Rainbows. They can't do a Churchill "Blood Sweat and Tears" speech.

Awe inspiring, innit?

Not to usurp Swoop's role, but Trump just tweeted:

"The United States will be powerfully supporting those industries, like Airlines and others, that are particularly affected by the Chinese Virus. We will be stronger than ever before!"

This has to be deliberate, right?

Can’t believe they are not going after Schumer for the threats he made to our cherished United States Supreme Court, and our two great Justices. If a Republican did that, there would be an endless price to pay. Pathetic!

Here's the difference between Chuck Schumer and Donald Trump. Schumer apologized, saying he regretted his choice of words. At the bottom of ths message is an image of something Trump retweeted about Schumer (and Nancy Pelosi) this past January and Trump didn't apologize. I don't think anyone would expect him too. As Malcom X once said: "If a dog bites you, do you expect him to say he's sorry?"

Trump didn't take it down after people complained it was deeply offensive. Twitter did.
Trump didn't stop with just one deeply offensive, anti-Muslim tweet. Other tweets he sent included one showing a graphic picture of what appeared to be a man's mutilated body, along with the claim that Pelosi "supports this mullahs' crime." The tweet was later removed and replaced, according to the Washington Post, with a note saying it "violated Twitter Rules." Link

In fact, Trump's press secretary defended it.
Instead of trying to apologize for her boss's tweets, White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham went on Fox News and defended Trump's decision to amplify the tweet, stating he did what he did to make a point. "I think the president is making clear that the Democrats have been parroting Iranian talking points and almost taking the side of terrorists and those who were out to kill the Americans," she said. "I think the president was making the point that the Democrats seem to hate him so much that they're willing to be on the side of countries and leadership of countries who want to kill Americans."
