Be sure to tell the people dying from lack of healthcare they are being petty for not toeing the party line.

There are people in this country in situations where "pretty good" isn't good enough. I'm sorry their desperation is inconvenient to the Democratic party.

Your post is a good example of the thinking I was referring to.

Regardless, are you now claiming that Sanders' Medicare for All approach is the ONLY way to address the healthcare crisis? It seems to me that there was something called the ACA during the Obama/Biden administration.

"I'm sorry their desperation is inconvenient to the Democratic party."

Right. Because the Dem Party has long been an opponent of health care for everyone.

Biden says he would veto a healthcare for everyone plan. If by some miracle M4A passed the legislature, Biden would veto it. Too costly, he says.

Biden said he'd veto M4A. That does not mean he does not want everyone to have healthcare. Two very different things. They just have different ways to accomplish it.

Okay. Glorious Saint Sanders wouldn't get his "Hot and cold running healthcare to every home, diamond encrusted MRI machines and golden bedpans for all" plans out of committee.

You want something so ideologically pure it can't help but fail so you can maintain your moral superiority and feel better then everyone else. I'd rather see improvement, even the smallest steps toward it.

Get off your moral high horse and have the government supply you with a perfectly adequate horse that is enough for your needs so the excess horse can be distributed to other people.

Nice straw man. That people view universal healthcare as "ideologically pure" is why you'll never have it. You'll keep riding that "perfectly adequate horse" and millions will continue to go uninsured.

Nice straw man.

Everything in reality seems to be these days...

I'm gonna blow your mind here... that was "colorful language." It's this totally new thing that I just made up and am the first person to ever use so I'm completely not surprised that this is the first time you've ever encountered it.

Ah, so you're in favor of Medicare For All now!

Nice. You're gonna use the same excuse for your president?

I'm not the one doing everything I can to ensure we get 4 more years of Trump.

I'm perfectly happy with the normal kale, I'm not holding my breath and pitching a hissy fit until a plate of prechewed organically grown GMO-free is kale is put in front of me, nor am I ordering the veal just to spite everyone and show up the people who "settled" for the normal kale.

Your normal kale is moldy and discolored. You've been eating it for so long that your tastebuds are ruined.

I'm not against M4A in theory. It's how we pay for it that concerns me. But I don't think it would pass even if the Dems controlled both houses of Congress. And it most assuredly would not if the GOP retains the Senate.

I also have no problem with people supporting Sanders. What I do have a problem with is those supporters who will not vote for Biden if he is the nominee...which seems likely. I also have a problem with resorting to ridiculous claims like dementia in their pursuit of their Sanders support.

Do I prefer Biden over Sanders? Yes. But I do not resort to outlandish claims against Sanders to justify my preference nor will I refuse to vote for him if he's the nominee.

Truman's 1949 "Fair Deal" plan for universal health care paid by taxes. The AMA killed it by smearing it as socialism.
I question the utility of "centrism" as a conceptual label if it covers literally every healthcare reform passed in the lifetime of Baby Boomers. I'd've called several of the LBJ & BHO-era reforms at least progressive leaning rather than centrist.

I suppose the question is whether you believe Sanders would try to push through a hopeless "ideologically pure" bill, or whether you believe he's a savvy enough politician to try to implement palatable changes over time.

"Palatable changes over time" is not a "revolution".

I never claimed it was.

It seems to be something more in the realm of centrism.

Centrism is advocating for a centrist position. Settling on a compromise that's achievable in order to move the Overton window and thereby at a later date potentially being able to bring about policies that are even closer to your ideology is not centrism.

Exactly. Centrists aren't just pragmatic progressives, they are opposed to policies to the left/right of their centrism.

Republicans have proven themselves to be very effective of moving the Overton window to the right over the last few decades, where Democrats are fighting tooth and nail just to prevent the loss of ground. This is a losing strategy.
