Should we fear Bernie?

At least get it right...
If this wasn’t a thread about why we should clutch pearls at the thought of an America that is not tilted to billionaires a candidate who is perceived as apt to lose the general, we might ask why that campaign memory stayed buried. But take it to the Biden thread.

Because Biden is a liar and plagiarist, who will not put the interests of working Americans before of those of his billionaire backers. Trump will destroy him.

The DP candidate selection process is alive. Lets not bull **** about that fact.

And Trump won't destroy a Casto-loving socialist?

Come on. They BOTH have flaws and gaffes to their record. Why you ignore one and refuse to even consider the other might not be too bad is beyond me.

Yes, American workers could back a candidate that puts their interests before those of billionaires. Its better that chowing on a turd burger.

What does that have to do with electability? American voters are rather infamous now for voting against their best interests.

Addressing the arguer might get you in the naughty corner.

Translation: "Oops. They noticed."

Seriously, why react so strongly to this? I'm not an American either, and my answer would be simple: Whatever the US does affects the rest of us so your elections should be an interest to the rest of the world. Plus US elections are more entertaining than Canadian ones.

“Castro loving”

You got me in stitches.

Hey, it's not my opinion of the man, but it sure will be part of the attacks on him.

You can get up from the floor now and answer my question: do you not think he'd be "destroyed" in the same way Biden would?

Honestly I don't know why you think it matters anyway.

Thanks for sharing.

It sure beats acting like a sarcastic clam.

The wealth divide in America is growing, some men have grown obscenely wealthy while many others struggle. Kids born into the wrong postcode receive low standards of education and nutrition and have a future of poverty ahead of them. People who suffer injury or illness can face economic hardship. American corporations have been eroding remuneration and conditions for American workers for years, often paying very little tax. The system is rigged and we are getting ****** over.

Bernie Sanders wants workers paid a living wage and billionaires to pay taxes that will fund programs to give all Americans the right to healthcare and education. These ideas are not even radical. There are plenty of countries that implement them. They are simply just and right.

So all we need is for more people to be motivated by reason and justice rather than selfishness and stupidity.

How long can you hold your breath?

That's a great story and it would make a great inspirational movie.

How are you going to make it work in real life?

See what I mean about crabby bunnies? Gentlements! (And also ladykinds, if any there be), can we not get along politely? Our civilization crumbles beneath the twin scourges of a rampant disgusting virus infecting us with horror, and also a coronavirus. At least we should endure destruction cheerfully and be nice to each other in our limited time remaining.

The Castro thing is indeed something he'd be attacked over. Establishment Democrat attacks on progressives tend to be about the same as Republican attacks.

But no, he wouldn't be "destroyed" by it. Not all attacks land equally, not all candidates offer an opponent equal numbers of ways to attack them, and not all candidates stand up for themselves equally. The things Biden would be attacked for would be more "destructive" because they are more serious, there are more of them, and his response would be to bumble through some string-of-semi-consciousness gibberish about some other unconnected current political subject, some protest from a bygone era that he'd say he was at but wasn't (and Bernie was), something about whether or not black kids can eat vanilla ice cream, and a mangled misquote of a black-&-white cartoon character nobody else even recognizes the name of anymore.

Bernie on Fox News having the audience eating out of his hand about Medicare for all, booing the interviewer who retorts that some people like their insurance.

But the one who draws positive reactions from people on the other side is hopelessly unelectable, so we need somebody who doesn't because that makes him so much more electable.
