2020 Democratic Candidates Tracker Part III

It has to do with expanded social programs that both communist dictatorships and western liberal democracies implement on some level.

So why are we even talking about Cuba? Why is Bernie even wasting his time defending Cuba?

"Bernie, what about Cuba?"

"**** Cuba. Let's talk about western liberal democracies."

But no.

"Bernie what about Cuba?"

"I know it was a dictatorship, but..."

Yeah, and that’s a problem for him. It just is...

Because it's a country in extreme proximity to us and has been the object of specific foreign policy scrutiny for over 50 years.

There's still an embargo. It's a live issue. Bernie isn't pulling topics out of the air. Cuba is in our immediate interests.

More like

"Bernie why did you say so and so about Cuba then?"

Look, it was an authoritarian state, but I was pointing out the good that it's literacy program did. Nothing more nothing less.

He's defending himself from the ******** media prying for anything controversial. We're talking about CNN and MSNBC talking heads pressing the issue, not able to let it go. And this years after defending Obama from right-wing smears for making similar comments.

I suppose we'll see what happens on Super Tuesday, but I think Biden's win in South Carolina will knock out Klobuchar. Warren doesn't seem viable.

After Super Tuesday, I think it's Bernie versus either Bloomberg or Biden. I don't think Buttegieg has staying power.

I don't know what I'll do the next week in Michigan. Cross over again and vote for Bill Weld?

Wait till you hear about Saudi Arabia.

I am still amazed at how many posters in this forum are claiming that Warren is their favorite right before (or after) dismissing her chances at getting the nomination.

She seems to be a victim of the way the primaries are timed. If a candidate is not in front during the first %7 of the race, do they really need to hang it up?

I am pulling for her. Buttigieg dropping out now is a good sign for her. If Klobochar follows suit in a timely manner it leaves her the only Woman in the race and the candidate most likely to retain Sanders supporters once the voice of the moderates consolidates.

I fee like she still has a "path to victory" as they seem fond of calling it.

If I'm Buttigieg I'm campaigning hard for a VP spot with one of the remaining candidates right now.

I think it's an interesting example because it is a much poorer country than the US that has been very successful in investing heavily in their poorest citizens with good results.

Looking around the world, it should be abundantly clear that the US has such intense pockets of impoverished citizens because it chooses to let these citizens languish in hopeless poverty. We have the wealth, we just don't use it wisely.
We all know that. The problem is who people will vote for, not who is ideologically superior.
You want four more years of Trump because Bernie is right?

I don’t remember any major squabbles between him and Biden. That would make the most sense from a moderate candidate position.

Pete seems to be disliked by the progressive wing of the party, which seems to be the weakness Biden's VP pick would be chosen to fix.

.....followed by.....

Looks to me like you are the one being contemptuously dismissive of my opinion.

More projection.
Where in my post do you see me saying who you personally should vote for?

Instead of worrying about how I word my opinion, maybe do some work supporting why a demonized Sanders won't matter (besides some polls taken before he's really being demonized)?

Yeah, they definitely dislike him, or even ridicule him. I have seen memes from them about how Buttigieg is the kind of person who would ask Rosa Parks to sit in the middle of the bus.

Maybe Biden would be better off with Warren.

I didn't claim you did. I said you were being contemptuously dismissive of my opinion, and I stand by that claim.

Let's begin here: Sanders himself claims to be a socialist. You present polls that x% refuse to vote for a socialist, and yet other polls have >(100-x)% voting for Sanders over Trump, despite the fact that Sanders himself claims to be a socialist.

I claim you are putting far too much weight on the anti-socialism polls, apparently pretending that this election is happening in a vacuum and no other variables are relevant.

How do you explain this discrepancy?

When was the last time a candidate became VP for another?

I generally avoid this wishful thinking and it seems most presidential hopefuls have a good idea of who they want as their running mate far in advance.
