That means they will not be obeying any order to go out and confiscate arms from citizens by President Quid Pro Joe Biden or anyone else. It would be illegal for them to do so. They will be on our side.

Everyone with a gun is on the same side?

Happy that you think a Democrat will win, though.

Yeah, the weird idea that no liberals own firearms is one of those conservative blindspots that will cause them a great deal of confusion when Civil War 2 happens...

"We should have won the election, but they had buses being being shipped up from Massachusetts. Hundreds and hundreds of buses" -- Trump pushes a completely unfounded conspiracy theory about massive election fraud costing him New Hampshire in 2016

There are an estimated 118 million gun owners in the United States.

There's 44 million registered Democrats and 32 million registered Republicans.

The NRA claims a membership of merely 5 million and I firmly believe that is an inflated number they pulled out of their ass and their dumb ass drowns out the gun side of the gun debate.

So yeah there's a lot of "unaccounted fors" in the gun discussion.

: "Congratulations to President Trump on the overwhelming vote by the U.S. Senate to acquit him & reject the baseless impeachment charges,"

@TomFitton: "Is there going to be accountability for the corrupt impeachment and abuse of @RealDonaldTrump? Judicial Watch already working on it..."
If 51 to 48 is overwhelming, whoever Tom Fitton is, he's got Trump's great math abilities.

I think I can explain one of his statements. When he says Obama gave Iran $1.8 billion in cash, he is referring to Iran entering an arms deal with the US. The deal fell through after the money was delivered but before the arms were delivered. In Trump’s mind, the Foundation of any profitable business is once you have their money, never give it back. So to him, returning the $1.8 billion was nothing other than a gift.

Trekkies on this board will recognize the Ferengi race. A cut-throat, profit-driven, hyper-sexist society in which acquiring capital is taken more seriously than most religions. They have over 200 Rules of Acquisition (a collection of principles, adages, and advice). The number one rule is once you have their money, never give it back.

Understanding Trumpspeak is easier when one looks at the rules of acquisition.

Trump Tweets

When Jerome Powell started his testimony today, the Dow was up 125, & heading higher. As he spoke it drifted steadily downward, as usual, and is now at -15. Germany & other countries get paid to borrow money. We are more prime, but Fed Rate is too high, Dollar tough on exports.

It's difficult to keep up with all of trump's 'tough guys'

eta: that second quoted tweet was just a day or two ago. Are tough guys good or bad? I can't tell.

Whatever fits the spur of the moment.

Anybody trying to extract logic from what Trump says hasn't understood him. Trump says whatever seems to fit at the moment. He might have some inner logic that he follows, but we will only discover that when he writes his memoir, if ever.

Seriously?

Evidently Trump has intervened in the Roger Stone sentence. After it was publicly announced that Stone's prosecutor recommended 7 to 9 years as a sentence, President Trump tweeted his outrage at the sentence suggestion, declaring that it "cannot be allowed". Not long afterwards, the Justice Department announced it was overruling the prosecutors and submitting a revised, lighter sentencing recommendation, prompting the lead prosecutor to resign.

The Justice Department claims that the decision to revise the sentence was made before Trump's tweet, but there is little evidence of that.

Quick, time for Susan Collins to put on her "I'm concerned" face.

ETA: You know what would be great? For the judge to look at whatever new sentencing recommendations that the DoJ hands out, and to end up taking the initial recommendations by the prosecutors.

Stone has certainly done himself no favors in her court room; she gave him a lot of leeway and he still abused the process.

There is such a perception (that the Dems don't care about rural voters), but it's propped up by lies and propaganda. Truth is, it doesn't matter how much the Dems pander to rural voters, this perception will remain because the propagandists on the right have a choke-hold on the rural population. These people will keep voting against their interests because they have been conditioned to do so by the media bubble they inhabit.

Thanks for a reasoned response.

I don't disagree with you, but there is another side to the issue. The problems unique to rural America do actually exist and did so long before "fake news" became so prevalent. Those voters do not see any benefit to "Medicare-for-all" when their relatives on the current version can't see a doctor without driving for 80 miles. They don't care about "free college" or "student loan forgiveness" when most of their family has never done more than finish high school.

But I just figured out that I'm probably way off-topic, so I'll shut up. :D

First of all, I think it might be a bit inaccurate to say that rural people don't care about things like health care, education, etc. After all, approximately 1/4 of all farmers have college degrees (which isn't that far below the population average). And even if doctors aren't within close proximity, they still need some access to health care.

But yes, even if people in rural areas (farmers and non-farmers alike) have different priorities than more urban voters, usually the democrat's policies would still be better for the average rural voter. Plans like re-education/training are better for rural coal minors than trying to prop up an industry that is dying anyways. Not to mention the trade wars which caused all sorts of problems with agricultural sales.

I don't have an opinion on that.

I'm going to sorry I posted this. The last time I gave a similar opinion, I got blasted.

It's the world where all the Democratic candidates are perceived to have little or no concern at all for anyone that is not part of their urban voting base. Large numbers of voters see an disdain for the problems of people living in areas where the hospitals have closed, the jobs have gone elsewhere, and the infrastructure has reached end-of-life. I grew up and lived in a place just like that until my 30's. I got out, but an awful lot of folks didn't.

I did not vote for Trump in 2016 and, no matter how bad the Democratic candidate is in 2020, I'll vote for that person. But to label everyone who does a racist homophobe is exactly the kind of thinking that allowed him to win in 2016.
The problem is an economic problem, but so called liberal elitists are blamed. Trump's bluster won't ever change that.

Why would there be? DOJ deliberations are generally kept internal, there is usually no reason to make them available to the public.

President Trump’s budget sets the right priorities:

-Funds the wall
-Supports our military
-Cuts wasteful foreign aid
-Enacts work requirements for welfare recipients

Most importantly, it sets us on a path to a balanced budget.
