They wouid have been rotated out in the normal course of events, and there were reports that the Vindman who testified had requested an earlier transfer. Sadly, this is good advice. I sincerely hope it never comes to that, but if it does, one should be prepared. And get proper training in its use and storage, and keep it, and ammunition, well locked and hidden in case of burglary.

NHS advisors are appointed by the president. Vindman was appointed by Trump in 2018. Since it's strictly a presidential appointment, it is within the president's power to fire any advisor.
